I recieved my g401b gyro today. The one that Solitaire recommended. I am still waiting on a new servo before I can fly again, but I cannot wait to see how much better the HH gyro is over the stock gyro.

Well it's been awhile since we last heard from you mimir. How did the new gyro work out? Did you upgrade the servos or stay with the stock ones? A fiberglass canopy for a 450 will handle the battery size if it will fit in the tray.
Happy landings

I did get the gyro, but am still working on getting it dialed in. The tail keeps wanting to turn to the left (well the front of the heli is turning to the right). I just bought a replacement esky digital servo for the one that stripped gears. I did manage my first full battery hover with the new setup, but just had to keep compensating for the tail. I even managed a short time of sorta side in hovering.

Mimir, be sure to let the gyro acclimate for a few minutes. These seem to want to drift a bit, if you turn them on after being in an area with cool AC and then you pop outside and fly. I have seen that if you give it 5-10 minutes of acclimation, they don't seem to drift much at all.
If that's not an issue, then you can do this to adjust the HH centerpoint: If you have a radio capable of subtrim, you can use that to counteract the drift. To do this, just turn everything on, but no throttle. Place the gyro in HH mode. If it's going to drift, the servo will usually start to move now, and will slowly move all the way to one extent. Use the rudder stick to move the gyro back to center, and use the subtrim adjustments to try to keep it from drifting to either side of center. Once done, it shouldn't drift any more!
If you don't have subtrim, you can use regular trim on the radio with the above methods.
I hope this helps.
Take care, Kent

I did not give it much time to acclimate, so that could explain the drift. I am using the stock esky radio, so no sub trim but I will try to use the trim to adjust it out. I thought it was because the center of the servo was different than it was with the esky gyro that I took off.
Thanks for the suggestions. I will let you know..
