The answer IS - "no". NOT 1st Heli. I have a HBFP as well. And before flying the HBFP I had a double rotor coaxial.
I am presently using an ESKY "sim" with "add on's" for "practice". I have several starter models, intermediate models AND of course the Trex model in different color schemes. I practice simulator regularly, every day, and at least 20 minutes or more. Basic "circuits", turns, flare landings, some 3D like rolls, inverted, etc., etc.
Still crashing. Less of course, but I still do. Crashes were VERY frequent in the beginning when first using "sim" and now seem to be lessening with regular practice. I'll stay at it till I think I'm not getting anything out of it then give up on "sim". Unless you guys say otherwise, that is.

Great! You're doing all the right stuff in the right sequence IMO. ;D

How do I get a hold of Kent or McCracken to answer some DX7 questions? I am considering dumping my new albatross system - the Walkera WK-0703 radio. I was told it wouldn't be a good one to use due to needing "mods" and a FREQ clip at the field. I'd rather get one that I can use outta the box AND not interfere /w/ other fliers. That's why the DX7 comes to mind. The "Spektrum" radios interest me in that they are 2.4G and user friendly - which is important to me, Mr. Greenhorn newbie!

Kent is out of town for a couple of weeks, but if you post up a question in the advanced section, I'm sure Ernie will see it.

Futabas are the top of the line. Doesn't look like a bad deal with the Rx and servos. Only neg I can see is it doesn't appear to be a multi model system like the DX6 or 7 from Spektrum or did I miss something?
Happy landings

The 7C from JohnhobbyWorld is a good deal. It includes the Rx. I've bought stuff from this seller and have had no problems. Even ships fast.
The "R607FS 2.4G" you posted is a receiver, not a radio.
You won't go wrong with Futaba, you'll just spend a bit more for Rx's. If I wasn't locked into Spektrum (4 receivers in various helis), I'd switch to the 7C in heartbeat.
Mode one is the Throttle/rudder on the right stick. Mode two is the throttle/rudder on the left stick and that's the one you want.

I was impatient. I started a thread about these radios and which a newbie like me should get? I guess it's personal choice, bottom line.
But just for sh*ts-n-giggles I googled "lockout" for the futaba's and spektrum's respectively and came up with a troubling scenario. I found a few problems with the Spektrum's having lockout issues whereas I found NONE with Futaba. Maybe I didn't look hard enough. But, that made me leary of Spektrum's.
What to do? Decisions - decisions.......

Go "you tube" or "google video" it. I know I used the DX7 moniker. It came up as having some issues. Dunno what else to say?

I guess you just talked yourself into the Futaba ;D
Good choice. $189 is a great price for the 7C and Rx plus battery and charger.

Are you serious, Solitaire? You saying I should stop there - at the FUTABA 7c then add the servos myself? I like the system A LOT but that darn SPEKTRUM system looks nice too. If they could just make me feel a bit more secure regarding the "lockout" issues that seem to be popping up, I'd most likely opt for them. I like underdogs! ~ www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sot0vCkPHiU~ www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DlcZSldNZE Szabo thinks "lockout" caused crash I do know for a fact from the few years in airplanes that FUTABA is highly respected in the hobby/industry and now with the 2.4G technology they have developed (that they had used for MIL purposes in the past) that they will just get better at it and iron out the wrinkles as time passes. But then again, I'd imagine so will SPEKTRUM. As I said earlier: Decisions-decisions!
