I like you, Phil. You are just as decisive as I am. I'll fret, fume and research for the longest time. Keep looking and reading until you feel comfortable. I really don't think you can go wrong with either. Also, search Ebay. There are some good deals and good dealers on there. Someone posted about a real good deal on a Futaba off of ebay, but I don't remember who. Search Futaba within the last 14 days. You'll see it.

cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220357515553I already got these things. The deal looked decent so I did a "buy now". Was that a good decision or was I too hasty? Opinions? And this question is repeated in my WALKERA 35c thread just in case others need to know if they're good servos.

That's not really cheap but it's a good deal. You'll get your moneys worth ;D Yeah, I know. I got them strictly based on performance goals. All digital and one hellofa tail servo.........so, I spent a touch more then maybe was necessary. (redface) But, in my defense I want my 1st build 450 to be nice the first time. I am acquiring the parts for that now - which is what this purchase was for.

No,you did good. The DS285's are $35 each times three. The tail servo I haven't heard of but JR never turns out junk so I'm sure it's a good one.

Looks good.Replacement gears are always a good idea. The cyclic servos will break gears 20 times more often than the rudder.

Sorry for the huge delay with this thread response.
With a 450 running around 80% on the throttle curve with zero pitch, an 11t pinion will net around 2,500rpm of headspeed. This is perfect for general flying and will make the heli smooth flying. With everything above the same, changing to a 13t pinion will give you 3,000-3,200rpm headspeed. The heli will be much more responsive (twitchy) and will easily do 3d maneuvers.
Best, Kent
