I guess it all comes down to what you expect from this forum. I can only speak from my POV. Our member numbers will never be as large as some of the more comprehensive forums like RCGroups, RunRyder and Helifreak, but I like smaller. It's more personal.
To be honest, I get a bit intimidated posting in some of the larger forums. Too many power-trippers that try to baffle you with bullsh1t or can't be bothered to reply because it's "beneath" them to do so.
Member participation here may be have declined a bit in the last couple of months, but we're into summer now. People have other interests to share their free time. Also, our knowledge base is limited as there is only a handful of veterans available for some of the more complex discussions.
I think we're all anxious to help answer questions (if we can), but I also look for some friendly banter, especially with those members that started in this hobby about the same time as I have, where we've grown up together and shared many of the same experiences. The camaraderie element is important to me.
BT is right about RCDiscuss. There will always be an influx of noobs as long as XHeli and it's sister companies have products to sell. We just need to work on our methods of attracting newcomers and I don't have a quick and simple answer for that.
Hopefully patience will result in slow but steady growth, but we can't force participation.

Everyone knows everyone else. But I would like it to expand enough where there is atleast a few members online everytime you login. Lots of times when I login Im the only member online. Also didnt Mckrackin delete his account on rcdiscuss about a year ago the first time? Hey guys are you allowed to put links to forums on craigslist?

Thanks guys. It's that kind of support that I'm talking about. I do feel partially responsible for Ernie's leaving due to an ill-timed attempt at humour. There was obviously something getting under his skin and my comment must have been the last straw, although, interestingly enough, he quit RCDiscuss 3 minutes before he quit here. Who knows.

You guys are right,,the problem is getting new faces here.
Three months ago I started in this hobby,,,it was Ernie who found me on the other BB and invited me here. Most of the help and information I got was from here. In three months time, I went from "what side is the throttle?" to flying a T-Rex 600 ESP that I BUILT. My 600 is every bit as good as anything you can buy.
Oh,,,finally got my tail tweeked,,,,yesterday I did some awesome power-punches,,,,10 to 100 feet in a blink and the tail didn't budge a mm,,,,wow,,,way cool.
I've talked up the BB at my flying club,,you'll see some of them here soon.
Ernie seemed headed for a burn-out,,,,he talked of car and $ problems. Give him time to chill,,,,he loves teaching and telling folks 'his-way' of doing things. He'll be back!

Well I know I am a reader more than a poster. I try to help when and where I can but only if I really know from where I speak. This forum is great we don't seem to bash anybody and encouragement is very very plentiful here. I know Ern has been a big help to me and so has everyone else and I truly mean everyone else.[/u] I haven't said thanks to every post I have read but would like to thank every poster now for the wealth of information and support they have helped assemble here on this forum. If I ever offend someone with an off hand remark, attempting humour or not please let me know by posting or pm me and I will definitely post an apology as it would not be my intention to offend.
Keep up the good work guys.
Trevor

Sol, I don't think an attempt at humor chased Ern off he's got a thick skin and a great sense of humor. He periodically get's burn out. Which is understandable; he out posts everybody about 2 to 1.
I'm not saying good bye to ern; he'll be back when he get's his batteries recharged. We sure do need him here and so do all the new guys he will eventually help.
Happy landings

ern has a major case of to many post per day burnout - i believe when the green rookies get a little fly time in they will start looking for other forums i hope they find this one - some of post reply people over at RCDicuss do not have a clue - they are messing up the nubes with to much high teck talk - WHERE it says built by members for members can we add - COME JOIN UP ITS FREE TO ALL ;D = VIC

I just popped in to read a little and no way could I not respond to some remarks on this thread... Nobody rubbed me the wrong way and I'm not bored with the members. One of(if not the main)reason for deleteing the account was the six star legendary member crap. Just seemed a little pretentious.Like bragging. What I am bored with is my heli Absolutely nothing new to add. The lil bird has become dependable to a fault. I am shelving it until it sells and I can move on to a 600 or .50 class. I appreciate all the Kudos given here although I don't really feel deserving lately. I won't be posting much until I have something new to add. I do have some pix to post of a lil 4-wheeler excursion this weekend. That is BTW the kind of stuff I'll be busy with for a while. I'm keeping some sim time going to avoid dumb thumbing a new heli but my Outrage's are safe for a while. Thanks again for not counting me out when I have one of my little meltdowns ;D

Well, you are legendary for all who know you Ern. Can't change that by just deleting your account. Sounds like you need a new challenge. It can get pretty boring when there's nothing to build or fix. No wonder you said you wanted to crash the 500. I think the better decision was to sell it. Nitro, wooooooooooooo. I think you'd be less bored with more noise. Have fun 4 wheelin'. ;D Happy landings

I like the whole noob thing you have going with your account now. Gives me a little over 870 post head start ;D BTW, I'm proud to know someone who can use the word "pretentious" in a sentence ;D ;D

WB Ernie. Glad you had a chance to relax over the weekend. As for the pretentiousness of "legendary member"...it's no more so than "global moderator" Both just come with the territory Newbie member just doesn't fit right.
