Is that a Trex 500 Clone?! Look like it to me, I think I'm gonna have to order one. Won't seem so expensive when I stagger the purchases of the frame and electronics. But with such a cheap frame, how could I pass it up? Thanks Ern!

Alright, got mine on back order. Looks like I'll be having a 500 build coming along very slowly. Anyone got any recommendations for servos, gyros, motors, ESCs, etc.

servos-Align DS510's on cyclic and DS520 on the tail.
gyro-Align GP750
motor-Scorpion 3026 1400kv with 14 or 15T pinion.
esc-Align 60amp
etc-Outrage 2500mAh 35C 6S lipos

OK, so I already found a cheap G401B gyro, which I've heard is actually quite good, as well as a cheap 60A ESC from CNC. I may just go with your suggestions on the rest. I wasn't sure which scorpion motor to get, so that helps. I was almost gonna go with the 500L, but I've gotta see what these scorpions are all about.  Thanks Ern |

Oh yeah, one more thing, will any DSM 6 channel receiver work, or do I need to get a certain one for the heli? I've got the DX7 and with 7 channel on the 600.

Hey Ern, are you using that setup on any of your 500s? I looked at that motor and it looks like it has a max continuous current of 80A, so it might be an issue running that with a 60A ESC.

Also, it looks like the DS520 and DS510 are about the same price, but it says that the DS520 can be used as a cyclic and rudder servo, so I think I'll just get 4 of those.

Sorry I didn't read this till after your parts are ordered but your parts list is good.
Yes,I used the stock Align 60amp ESC with the Scorpion 3026 on around 200 flights with no issues.That was even with a 15T pinion.
Those 520's are fast.Use the middle hole on the servo horn.This will slow them a little and limit your pitch some.The 500 doesn't need 14.5 degrees of pitch and you won't need the servos to be that fast.Maybe even use a little expo in cyclic.
Try to get around 10.5 degrees of pitch +/-

It looks to me like the HK500 is mostly plastic.
That might be Ok for lower headspeeds, but please be careful.
I am running and loving the Scorpion 1600kv with a 13t with 6s batteries. It is incredibly powerful!
I don't remember the torque, but I think the DS510's have a lot more than the DS520 tail servo.
The G401B will work fine on the tail. I ran one on mine until it failed one day. The tail held just fine. You do need to let these get used to the temperature. They will drift if you just go from an AC room to a hot outside.

Like Kent says,replace the blade grips with metal ones.Copter X or Align will do fine.
DS520's are plenty torquey for a 500's cyclic.I know guys online that compete with them.
