That's a great price for that! Now they need to come up with an air conditioner suit, so I can fly in the summer.

The new Orange gyro did its job first day out on the F/A18.
I flew off some very slippery ice this AM, with a crosswind, and the gyro kept the plane from wandering and rotation was textbook.
It was a good flight in 8-16 gusting crosswind. We went through the standard aerobatics and some slow, medium and fast fly bys. I could see the gyro correcting through the gusts which appeared to be higher at altitude and more variable. A bit too much gyro input in the roll axis.
I lined up the final and it ran true without any rudder input all the way in, and through, roll out. We had a couple of pretty good gusts through final and landing.
Before the next flight I dialed down the roll axis just a bit and pretty much repeated the flight and landing with a less twitchy gyro roll response.
I had the gyro on throughout both flights and saw no difference in the flying characteristics between the gyro and non gyro set ups other than the improvement in tracking.
Next time out I'll see how it does in low speed high alpha, etc.

Very Interesting. I haven't researched using gyros much. I had nothing but good experiences with a gyro in the Micro Beast... that is, until the bad experience. I don't know what happened. I plugged it in on a level surface. So I've kind of been gun-shy about gyros.

I plugged it in on a level surface. So I've kind of been gun-shy about gyros. I've flown a number of micros with AS3X with nothing but good results. Your experience with the Beast was unfortunate, but most certainly an oddity from everything I've experienced, heard and read. I'm going to install integrated rx/gyros on a few more of my planes. They not only allow improved stability on finals, expanding the number of days it's reasonably safe to land in wind I'd normally avoid, they improve aerobatics and add a certain feeling of "solidness" and "weight" to the planes making them feel like much larger aircraft. The only thing you need to keep in mind on your gassers is that the gyros need to be isolated as much as possible from vibration. That requires special mounting materials made for just such applications. You might want to try a 6ch Orange rx/gyro from HK on your Cermark R3, or other electric, to gain some experience and confidence before adding it to the big planes. There's a reason the pros use them.

FINALLY, a couple of good flying days. Flew the big jets, 90mm F/A18, Eurofighter and my new JF-17 off of the HS parking lot and my new hand toss 64mm F-86 and 50mm T-45, both on 4s, out on the half melted snow covered soccer field across from the parking lot. I had to wade through some slush to fly the little guys, but is was worth getting my feet soaked. Both of them are little rockets. What a blast! Man it's been a looooooooooooong winter. This was the first day it's been 60 degrees since Oct. 13th of last year. Global warming my arse!

Flew for the first time in months, 1 pack through the blade 130x and 1 with the exi 450. It felt nice to fly again. Now that I'm out of college for the summer and back to working a standard 40 hours, hopefully I'll have more time to fly. I really want to get back into flying again, I've been away for too long.

Good to hear you're back into the action.
Most of my recent heli flying has been with the latest generation of micros and quads. The new 3 axis gyros, gps, return home, etc., make flying so much easier that they're bringing in new guys and gals to the hobby. The same can be said of the fixed wings with gyros. I still like the challenges of flying the earlier models, but it's hard to argue with progress.
