Post Here about your flight today, yesterday or the day before. If you feel your flight might not deserve a dedicated post then go ahead, don't be shy, just add to this one. Feel free to ramble on. This is the place for that. ;D Let us know what you flew, how many times, what manuevers you did or anything unusual that happened. Do something different on the simulator or have you been working on something new? Post pics or whatever if you wish as well. Lets keep this thread active.....

Yesterday, I Maidened an EXI 450 SE CF. I call it that although what it really is made up of is an $39 EXI head/tail combo plus $29 CF frame set. Yes, I know that they are now $77 but I got these parts in the late summer before the price came down. After purchasing Elk's flasher and spare 450 parts, I had enough to rebuild his flasher plus put this one together. HS5065MG servos on cyclic, JR290 tail servo and Mystery/XM G401B gyro. Turnigy 2215 Motor, hobbywing BEC (6V) and Volcano 30A esc.
I had a nasty tail vibe. CF tail linkage rod was vibrating pretty bad telling me it was the tail. So took it home and last night I found the tail shaft was bent. This was bent new in the box. I replaced it last night.
After rebuilding I flew my Esky Lama V3 2 flights indoors just fooln around. Dunno if it's the batteries or the brushed motors wearing down but it's not producing as much lift as before.

Good ideal David. As a matter of fact I did bring the G2 to work with me today and flew it once before work this morning inside the warehouse. Got to put it in the air at lunch outside for a couple of minutes before the wind started to push it around to much so I brought it back inside and finished up the battery. Lunch sure does go by quick when you are doing something you like ;D........other than eat that is ;D Dave

No outdoor flying today. Wind chill is -20. BRRRRR.
Got in a couple of quick flights yesterday when the wind died down a bit. One battery each in the Black Hawk and Corsair. Kept it all real basic because I thought my hands might freeze to the sticks. ;D
I'll be flying inside today. Checking all the basic systems on a couple of helis.
Then I'll be spending some more time tuning up the inventory. First off was my wife's "Lady in Red" Ray built for her last year. Some of you may remember that Ray turned a so, so, Blazing Star into a brushless rocket for her and added some nice custom parts. We had flown it earlier and it kind of dropped out of the air. Thought we had a bad Rx, but fortunately turned out to be only a bad "fake" Deans. Whew. That saved me 50 bucks for a new 6100e. ;D
Happy landings

Been flying the Novus CP inside, can finally to a piro in the garage. It's just too quick for anything else. It's been cold and windy outside for a while now. I was able to get a nightflight with the upgraded BlueRay 450 in this weekend. It was pretty cool looking because I was flying around my neighbors front yard, which is packed with X-mas lights. All of the lights made it look pretty cool and the visibility wasn't too bad. Thought my fingers were going to freeze off though.
Aside from that, outside flying has been rare. It's finally snowing up here.
Are you guys flying in the snow? Any incidents?

No snow here. Well about a MM yesterday, but the rain took care of that today. I'd welcome some snow and no wind at this point. So, it's been the mCX and mSR at home and the bigger coax's at the shop. The shop's been so full lately, even those are a bit of a challenge to fly without ticking a blade or two.

Yesterday was REALLY nice so I left for a really early lunch and there was almost NO wind at the field. A student of mine met me there and he flew a few packs and I flew a few packs. 2 Plank flyers were there we knew and they braved the soggy wet grass. I need to bring and leave a mat at the field to take off from. Runway was really wet.
My issue on the 450SE CF was indeed the bent tail shaft cause it flew really smooth. With the tail shaft quiet, I also noticed my gear mesh was too tight cause it was rather loud. I loosened that up and checked the mesh better and it sounded good so I flew it. Here is the first inverted flights with it. I cut out the parts where I was landing and adjusting the travels to get a better trimmed inverted.
The warehouse next door is vacant and a guy has been in there all this week repairing dry wall, so I asked if I could fly inside and he said sure. I flew the ParkZone Sukhoi. I still need to adjust some of the trims on it but it was interesting avoiding the vericle supports so I was doing figure 8's around them. I did a couple Split S and Cuban 8's but that was a bit scary cause I definitly did not want to hit the roof support thingies and get stuck.

NICE!!! Someday I would love to be able to fly inverted!!
I just can't get the hang of it. I am still having a blast just doing FFF and some basic loops, rolls and flips.
You are good! Kent

Great flying David. I think I could see a real difference in the smoothness the farther into the vid after you trimmed it.
I got to fly yesterday. The wind was finally down and the temps up so it was perfect.
I took the fleet out to Lake Minnetonka and flew off the lake. We have about 6" of ice.
The nice thing about flying off the lake is that there are no obstructions. Just miles of open space.
Cranked up the G2 and found it was out of track. Don't know how that happened, so I just landed it and took out the Black Hawk. I started with the usual warm up and then took her inverted, flew it until it was practically out of sight, straight up, filpped it back and autoed it in on a spot bare of snow. A guy came up from behind and said, "Hell of a way to ice fish." I jumped about two feet and said, "It's a good thing you didn't say that when I was trying to land or YOU"D be ice fishing for that heli." We both got a laugh out of that.
Flew the Corsair with the skis on it and then off for my indoor fly at the gym. Turned out I was the only one that showed. so I had the place all to myself. flew the vapor for a battery and then bound the sukhoi to the DX5e so I'd have the advantage of dual rates to slow it down somewhat for indoor flying. It didn't really make that much difference. Still eventually smacked it into the wall and busted the motor off the mount.
Just before dusk I went back to the lake and got in a few more packs. The clouds were coming in over the setting sun and it was a beautiful and spectacular sight. Yellows, oranges and pinks. I counted myself lucky to be able fly with such a fantastic background. It was a perfect flying day.
Happy landings

Oh man,,,I had a great day flying today. We have about 1 1/2 feet of snow and was 28 degrees with very little wind,,,just a breeze. I managed to stay busy enough that I never even put on gloves. Thx to 19K,,,,I have some skis on my EDFs,,,,flying off snow is just plain FUN. I had the floats on my T-rex 600,,which is fun for scoot'n around on the snow but they suck for flying. Get over about 10 mph and the floats start flap'n. So I took the floats off and flew off a 4x5 ft piece of 1/4" plywood. I flew my T-Rex 600 ESP 4 flights,,,a lot of 3D. T-Rex 500 ESP 3 flights some inverted FFF F-4E on skis 3 flights A-10 on skis 3 flights A-7 hand launch 2 flights And,,the hi-light of my day,,,,I have skis on my Flying Shark EDF jet,,,,OMG,,is this plane cool. Flies great,,,looks just like a great-white shark and looks even cooler with skis. I flew it 4 flights. So,,,19 flights in about 5 hours,,,,,way too much fun. My wife was doing holiday carp,,,but I am going to drag her out there and get some video of the shark flying off snow!! And,,,,GREAT flying David!! you rock!!

Got a fun little night flight in on Thursday, which was somehow perfect for flying. Not too cold and no wind at all, it was great. Check out all of the lights. I flew around my neighbor's yard and it came out pretty cool.
Also managed to get a quick flight in yesterday during my lunch break with the 450 pro. This thing is flying very nicely now. The boom is pinned and I've gotten rid of all the sub-par clone parts. I love the DS760 gyro for inverted flight, holds very well.
Lots of fun ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Thx for the props, Skiis on an EDF, that is cool, how did you guys get those? Someone sell them or DIY? They're Dubro skis. You can buy them at a lot of places. I got mine from Hobbyzone. I didn't fly today, primarily because I broke my "one crash a day" rule yesterday and ended up with two broken planks (falling out of the sky like they'd been brought down by Ack Ack) and one broken heli, the G2. At least now I know why the tracking was off. So, today I spent lots of time rebuilding. I was so long overdue for a crash it caught up with me big time. Happy landings

Took The Blue Ray out early this morning with a group of plankers and a couple of Heli vets.......
One of the Vets was watching me "put put" around and came over..........
He actually complimented me on the heli.....ask if he could take it for a spin...using the stock TX.......lol..since I had brought along 4 batteries and was only into the second one........let him give it a go....... damn... must say....that bird was awsome in the hands of a real heli flyer......proud to say I must have set the thing up pretty well....he tossed it around like a rag doll...never once complained...... After burning up one batt....he smiled and said..."it's time for you to grow....did u bring an extra pair of underwear?"
I knew right then he was gonna have me "outside" of my comfort level....anyway.....after a min or two of high alt hover and idle up punches....he had me invert.......now I see why he asked about the spare pair shorts.........It was my first invert......nearly pissed myself....but what a rush...............
I only stayed inverted for a short time.....seemed like forever.....but re-aligned her and lost a little altitude....it was time to bring her in.......WOW.........everything still in one piece and my confidence is a little overwhelmed.....
Thats my day.......with the Up-Graded Blue Ray.......
