The P51 Test Mule flew like it had never been damaged this AM. The HK box should be here when I get back from meeting Dube at HZ today. Then all my excuses for not moving forward with this and other projects will be running out. ;D Edit: I just ordered my camera too. It's a Canon SD1200. So, I shouldn't have any excuses about posting pics either.

I really get PO'd at the PO somedays. I think my mail carrier is on vacation. The signature card was still in the box so no pkg from HK. Who's ever subbing for my regular gal must not have seen it. I'll go to the PO this AM and hope they left it there and didn't send it out on the truck again. EDIT: I finally go my pkg from HK. From order to delivery took 19 days. Not too bad for being on the tail end of Chinese New Year. I've got a bunch of work to do now. All the batteries have those copycat EC 3's. Those will go to deans. 3 motors to wire. 3 ESC's to wire and program and a half dozen servos to test. Then I'll be installing the parts in the Staggerwing, P51 test mule, F22, Yak Super Corsair and a Nueport. Plus, I'm going to build a Stryker from replacement parts. Makes me want to take a nap just thinking about it. ;D

I picked up a Stryker yesterday, too!

No keeping up with you kent, so I'm not even trying. ;D I ended up with a canon sd1200 with 4gig stick so I can take vid too. It shipped today. Due date is the 29th I think. It's kind of a lottery as to what I'll be flying first. I'm going to try to work on everything bit by bit and see what comes out done first. Right now it's looking like the F22 is in the lead. I've got to reverse the shaft in the Turnigy 3542 I'm going to use in the 'stang and can't locate a snap ring puller small enough. Anybody got some suggestions? ??

Reverse the shaft? To reverse rotation?
Surely you know this, but switching any two wires from the ESC to the motor will reverse it's direction. Kent

If you have a Sears nearby, they usually carry small snap ring pliers. I have a really old set from Snap-On.
That motor is HUGE! That should make the Stang hover at idle!

I tried over at TrueValue and theirs were too big. I'll try Sears if I can't push the clip of with needlenose. That was Ray's tip. We'll see. I could have got a different, smaller/lighter motor, but I wanted one that would bolt up to the stock motor mount. With the MAS 10X7 I'm estimating a minimum of 75 and a max of 80 based on similar set ups I've seen posted. Probably unlimited vertical too.

OK, got the clip off and the shaft punched through on the motor. Took a bit of pounding. Put the motor on and the 40-45-A ESC and 30C battery positioned and it balanced pretty well. I put it back to stock until I get the connectors wired. Then it will be show time. YEAH BABY

Anxious to hear how it goes.
I ordered the 3548 motor and 60A ESC for mine a few days ago. Going to try a cut down 10x10 to start with.

What battery are y'all planning on running?
I think I'll be ordering one of those motors soon for my P-51!

Maybe 4S if it seems like a good idea at the time. ;D I have done nothing since my last post on the P51 project. I've been busy with the F22...and flying.

Nice! But I meant how big of a battery, as in capacity?
I can fit up to an 1800 3s in mine. I can't tell the difference there from a 1300 in flight, but this is all stock.

Nice! But I meant how big of a battery, as in capacity? I can fit up to an 1800 3s in mine. I can't tell the difference there from a 1300 in flight, but this is all stock. A 2200 is what I'm planning on using. You'll want to mount that out of the stock location if you use the 3542, which is a pretty heavy motor, to keep the CG. What I'm doing is putting the ESC in the battery area and moving the battery back. That requires trimming the hump off of the bottom of the access hatch/cockpit. You may need to scoop out some of the foam on the fuse too. All this is contingent on which motor you choose. The heavier the motor the more you need to relocate a bigger battery further back. A lighter motor (something close to the stock motor) may allow you to continue to fly with your 1800 in the stock battery compartment. Bottom line is to keep the CG where it is; at the little ovals on the top of the wing when balanced with the plane inverted. If you make the engine mod you'll want to reinforce all the control surfaces with additional hinge tape and reinforce the elevator through the narrow part with a strip of CF. Just a thought: You might just want to throw a 30A ESC in it and a 9.5X7.5 prop (PKZ) on her first. You'll be amazed at how much faster it flies. Do the reinforcements too. Make the other mods when you get bored.
