My order from HK is due any day and I'm as excited as a 10 year old. ;D
In the order will be a Turnigy 35-42, Turnigy Plush 40A ESC and a 25-30C lipo that I'll be putting in the current 'stang as a test set bed for the upcoming "Shiny" P51 I'll be building at my wife's request. I'll also prop it up to a MAS 10X7 for starters.
The new P51 will be called "Rainey"; my wife's nick name . I think I'll use Callie Graphics for the decorations. I'll post a thread on the "Shiny" one later.
While not a real screamer, this should up the test bed P51's speed to 70-75 mp and be able to carry the additional weight of retracts, and even flaps, if I decide to add those.
Electronics will include a 6100 or 6110 Rx and an external 5-10A BEC, depending on how many extra servos I use, if I add the retracts and/or flaps where the additional servos "could" cause a "Brown Out" with just the ESC 's internal BEC alone.
The only reason I'm hesitating on the retracts is that I land on some pretty rough surfaces and bend the fixed gears I have now occasionally and don't want to ruin a set of retracts.
I won't add the flaps for anything other than "the heck of it" because I don't think even a heavier or faster landing plane will really need them. Time will tell.
When it's been throughly tested I'll bring the original 'stang back to current power and accessory levels and I'll treat her to some much needed cosmetic updates (You ever crash land into ice? It's REALLY hard. ;D ) and a custom paint job that I've only begun to imagine. ;D

were going to need pics bob ;D Yeah, I know, I'm just so bad about pictures. And to think I used to own a commercial photography studio. But, maybe that's the reason I'm not into pictures anymore. There was more than one client I had that drove me to the point he almost left wearing an 8X10 format camera for a hat. I feel better now. ;D

Really, look into the Kodak Zi8. It can take up to 1080p video and 3mp stills. My vids have all been lately 720p, as it's smaller and doesn't take up quite so much space. They still look great. It comes with software that can automagically send stuff to youtube, facebook, vimeo, and others. It's really nice and costs $179.
The recent vids and pics are all from that camera.
Oh, and you push a button on the side and the USB connector pops out and you then plug it right in. It charges from there, too. I love it.
I just need to figure out how to rig up a head mount.

Awesome, but I'm down to the pay as you go phone with a 15 dollar a month service cost. Doesn't support pic or vid for that price, but I don't care. No way I'm going to mess with that. ;D I'll probably get me a new camera in a week or two. Not waiting on the daughter to return mine anymore. She needs one anyway. ;D

If a thread hasn't been hijacked somewhere along the line it must not be a RCHELITALK thread. ;D
Not much to do on the P51, except fly it the way it is, until the HK shipment shows up. I'm going to wait to buy the new airframe until the testing is complete.
I did pick up some Testors chrome paint to see if it's going to be "Shiny" enough for the new 'stang. It would be alot easier to apply and keep touched up than the aluminum tape. I'll do a test spray some time soon.
I also picked up a MAS 10X7 prop which I'll test on the 'stang and Corsair with the 40A ESC's. I've read they pull too many amps for the 30's I have now. I'll also be upping the battery C's too. All in all, it should end up being a relatively cheap speed increase.
Edit: I tried the Testors Chrome spray and it just didn't look "Shiny" enough for the wife. I had to agree...It's going to take me 10 times as long to do the aluminum tape. Anything to make a wife happy. ;D

I missed the HK shipment today. She put a signature card in the box. I was out flying. At least I was doing something fun. I went on a ramble about the 'stang nose in on the weather thread so I won't repeat it here, but it's definitely needing a make over after I use it for testing the components for the "Shiny" one. Anyway, the point being that it's very easy to spiff up these "Z" foam planes when they get a little ragged. It's really just about like any refinishing project. I was surprised though at how good it works on a foam plane. Take all the decals off and 220 sand the paint (you don't need to take it down to the foam) and clean off with a tack cloth or wash it off. Mix up some light spakle with a bit of water and spread the stuff over all the cracked and wrinkled areas. When it dries, lightly sand and put on another coat where and if required. Spray with an enamel or acrylic primer, depending on what the paint is going to be, light sand and then paint. lightly sand and paint a finish coat. Add a top coat of matte or satin to protect the finish.
