This thing is fast, handles VERY well, and lands at almost walking speed.
I don't know how they did it, but I surely do like it!!
Today, I flew three batteries through mine (2200ma 30c 3s) and it is a rocket. I also took the stock max surface throws and upped them a bit. This thing will loop on a dime now and the rolls are very axial and about 2 rolls per second.
It's fun to do a high speed pass into the wind, shoot for the moon rolling all the way up, then do a stall turn back to full throttle for a low full throttle pass WITH the wind! I love the way this thing handles. The landings take some getting used to, as this thing will float for a LONG ways! I found it easier to come in hot way far down the runway and just let it float in without any throttle. I was able to land it at probably 3mph or less! I have not been able to make this stall.
Did I mention that I love this thing?!?!? Kent
PS: Thank you Gabe for turning me on to these!

The only thing I'm unsure of is the motor. I'm trying to find an inexpensive equivalent to the PKZ motor that will fit in the motor mount. I think the dimension is 28mm. Is that correct?

Yes, 28mm is about the diameter of the stock motor, but it's an inrunner. With my last HC order, I added one of these that hasn't arrived yet: www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=7993This needs a 40 amp ESC. I really wanted to stick with 3s, as I have a lot of them. I'll try it when it gets here. It might be too much! We'll see! Kent

Glad you find it as fun as I do, Kent! I knew you would love it! Watch out with that Turnigy motor though - its recommending a 4" prop. So when you prop up to the 6x4, you may be pulling more amps than rated.

Thanks Gabe!
I do have a power meter, so I will be sure to check the current draw of the Turnigy motor. A 40 amp ESC will be in there up front, too.
I look forward to blinding speed with that, someday! ==== Actually, that motor and ESC will just go in a drawer for a while.
I am not the least bit tired from the stock speed! This is still my 'balls to the wall' speed demon!
One thing I have found that really helps me with the Stryker: I put the elevator trim up 10 clicks on the transmitter for takeoff. Then a full throttle throw. It climbs immediately at a 30+ angle. I like that. I then drop the throttle to about half and bump down the elevator trim by the 10 clicks. It is then a PLEASURE to fly!
At least mine is perfectly happy flying circuits at 1/3 throttle or so! It will happily do loops and rolls at 1/2 throttle! But, look out when you come out of a really high dive at full throttle! I love to do fast rolls at full throttle!
I want to FLY this thing more! Dam WIND! Kent

The guys over at "Foam Fighters" use that motor for their smaller planes. How are you going to mount the outrunner? Gabe, the review below the motor shows that one user measured it at 32.6 A's and 344.66 W's with a 6X4.

Whoops! I must have read something wrong then. My bad guys - and good catch 19K.
Yeah, that thing is a blast! If I'm using my PowerEdge 3S, I just keep her pegged at WOT the entire 5 minutes. If I'm using my Zippy 4S batteries, I have to use power management. I will hit WOT for no more than a 5 second burst, then back off to at least half. Sometimes I will even kill the power completely and let the propeller windmill so that the motor will cool off.
Oh, BTW, I got the heat sink for the motor, but there's no way it will fit with the stock motor mount. I will get back to you on this when I figure out how to mount it.

You know, I just had a huge smile on my face looking at the P-51 and Stryker on my ceiling this evening.
These Parkzone designers REALLY know how to design and market something that WORKS REALLY REALLY WELL!!! These both have room to make them even better, which just adds to the fun! They are designed with just the right amount of aggressiveness in stock form, I think.
These both handle extremely well, and a true scale P-51 definitely handles like crap! Parkzone kept these scale lines and modified it to handle like an aileron trainer with NO BAD HABITS!!
The Stryker is a hotrod with NO BAD HABITS either!!
I am just really impressed with Parkzone.
I love things that are designed well! Kent

I really don't know yet about the mount. The motor has not come in yet.
When it does, I'll take a look. I may see if I can order a spare Stryker mount and mod it up, if that looks to be possible. That is a very interesting mount and it sure is strong.

Check the Stryker thread on rcuniverse: Darkside Stryker Thread Part 8. Maybe send Gryphon a PM. He's he resident guru and is helping me with my 140mph build.

So I drove the Stryker into the ground today at full throttle and the foam exploded. I was actually able to find all the foam except a piece on the wing - so I ended up buying a new fuse. Bought some paint while I was at the LHS, since the $19 fuse is bone white. Needed a prop too and they were out so I was forced to use my APC 6.5x5.5 - yeah...oober fast prop! Here's the new Stryker: What do ya think? Flies like a dream - and looks bad a$$ now too!

With that new prop, I can hear the vibration on the vertical stabs when I hit WOT. Its nuts!

Gabe, that paint job should make it really more visible in the sky! Stock, mine is easy to lose in the sky, especially when you are far away ready for a return pass. I have to rock it sometimes to figure that out.
Your paint job would be MUCH easier to see! Invisible in one orientation and Oh, there you are, in the other!
What motor are you running in yours now?
Oh, and what happened when you face planted that thing? I can't believe there was anything left of it, other than confetti!
I have mine with maxed out throws now. One millisecond of an error in controls and it's going to be toast, too. I have been lucky so far, as this thing just handles amazingly well! Kent
