Well welcome aboard Gabes' dad. It looks like you and his mother did a fine job raising him. Bet he ate a lot when he lived at home...... Anyways good to have you and fire away with the questions when you get ready. These are a great bunch of guys here and they all love to help, when they can and I have not seen many time when they couldn't. Dave

Awesome user name, Shelby!!
My brother just bought a 1968 Shelby GT350! He will be doing the final touches on it this winter.
He sold an FFR Shelby 427 to afford it.
He's a Shelby nut! Take care Dad 'O Gabe!, Kent

My pops is a Shelby nut as well, Kent. He has two of them!
One's an original 1966 Mustang Shelby HERTZ!
The other is a 66 clone that he bracket races. He's pretty good at it - for an old man ;D

Hey watch the "old man" stuff. Chris you have my permission to wear him out..... Dave Yea, Gabe. The Dave is fighting for exclusive rights to the "Old Man" moniker. So far he is close second to Sol, I think. Welcome aboard, Chris. Get ready to be addicted to helis and Shelbys. Now I suppose Gabe is going to have to behave?

Thanks Gabe for the "ol man" stuff... . and while I've got you here.. It's not bracket racing, it's open track, like road course racing, at Infineon or Thunderhill raceways.. Thanks guys for keeping my son in line.. Chris.

Never had the Shelby but I had a '66 Mustang fastback HiPo 289 back in the day. With some carbing, a high riser, some headers, a road gear and Pirellis on it, it hit over 140.
I was cruising across Nevada one afternoon. I thought I was hot stuff until a supercharged Avanti passed me like I was standing still. I caught up with him at the first gas station and he said he thought his was good for over 160. Those were the days. No speed limit and Zero common sense. ;D

No Shelby here, either. Couldn't afford one, but I had the sister to 19K's. Could barely afford that, too. 1967 fastback with 390 HP, close ratio four gear and traction bars. Wish I still had it.
Anyway, welcome to the forums, Shelby.

He's pretty good at it - for an old man ;D My brother's GT350 is also an original Hertz! He has TWO build sheets that were buried in the car. One that the original owner found and then another one that my brother found! That is really weird how Ford did that. The original motor came with my brother's car. The owner upgraded it to a 428, unfortunately, but the original small block is with it. The numbers match, too! My brother is in the process of rebuilding the original motor and will sell the 428 when it's ready. Everything else is original. It sat in a garage for 25 years, too! It does need paint, but the body is perfect with zero rust. It needs a few trim parts, and I was amazed that you can still buy that stuff! He is loving the project. He also just sold a 1968 black California Special. That was immaculate when he was finished with it. 100% correct. His FFR 427 Cobra was amazing. It ran right around 11 flat in the quarter with a built 351! I wanted to buy that from him. It was beautiful. He actually won a few best of shows with it, too. He put it up for sale and sold it the same day. Bummer. Well, to give you an idea of my brother's Shelby love, he named his daughter Shelby!!! Take care, Kent

Oh, and in my younger days, my hotrod was a 1960 40 horsepower VW bus!!!!
Before that, I had a purple 1948 Chevy pickup with a tiny 6 cylinder and a tube radio. I sure wish I still had that truck. Kent

I bet the chicks at the drive in went nuts, ;D
Old trucks are real hot now. Couldn't hardly give them away 10 yr's ago. I think the motor in your truck is the same basic motor they used until they gave up inline sixes 20 or so years ago.
