The t-28 would be the way to go. Akent I didnt know that you had the F4F wildcat how do you like it? What other Parkzone planes do you guys have?
Thats a funny story about that guy in Austin. Sounds like me and my HBFP.

I've got most of the PKZ planes or at least have flown them. The only one I wouldn't reccommend is the BF109. That plane is a nightmare to take off and land without a lot of practice. The very scale like landing gear geometry is the problem. In the air it flies nicely if not dramatically.
I'd say the P-51 BL is the best flying plane of the Warbird collection. It goes exactly where you point it. Very nimble, good aerobatics. The T-28 is the most stable and the tricycle landing gears make it a dream to take off and land. The Cosair is a good flyer with great, very unique, looks. All of them take to performance mods like bees to honey. You can go with mild to wild when you're ready.

Yep, 19k is right on!
The other problem with the F4F is that it's so fat it slows down really quickly. It's easy to stall and land short. Stalls are mild, but they will get your attention! Other than that, the F4F is a milder flier than the P-51. It is very smooth.
I have never flown a T-28, but from what I have seen, it's an awesome flier and is very forgiving.
Of the Parkzone warbirds, I only have the P-51 and the F4F. Both are 100% stock. Kent

Thanks guys, I think Ill go with the t28, it seems like its the most versatile. One question though can you put skis on the t28 I dont think Dubro makes tricycle landing gear except for the big planes?
On a side note I got to see what happens if you fly without wing struts on the super cub. I recently modded the wing struts so I could take the wing off without unscrewing anything. What I did was take a clothes hanger and cut 2 pieces about 1" long and bent them into a p and q then I took the original screws and screw them to the fuse and slid the original wing struts over the clothes hanger wire. If that makes sense. ANyway the screw came loose midflight and the wing strut came off.
Talk about having the wing fold, they were at about a 40 degree angle from the fuse and I wasnt even flying hard. After landing and fixing it I had a really good flight. And landed near perfect. When I was flying I imagined what it would be like with the t28. It should be fun flying a scale warbird.

I've heard different stories about how the Dubro parkflyer skis work on the T-28 on snow. I gather that if the snow is too soft the nose ski digs in. That makes sense. Another pilot reported they work well. I'm going to assume the snow was harder in that case. You might want to epoxy a piece of plastic, about an inch wider, to the bottom of the nose ski. That should help distribute the weight better.
Yep, those struts a very integral to the wings performance. I've read more than one post where a pilot thought they were simply cosmetic. I don't need to tell you what happened. On my clipped wing version, even with a 12" 5mm CF spar, I wouldn't fly it without struts.

If the snows to soft or wet they just dig in. Does Dubro make a front nose ski for parkfliers? Or do you have to buy 2 sets of dubro skis for it to get an extra ski.

I don't think they make a nose ski in the parkflyer size, so I think you'll need two sets. They get brittle in very cold weather so you'll probably break at least one, in particular if you hit a chunk of ice with much force. I'd recommend reinforcing them for the T-28. I did this for the Corsair, P-51 and SC. CA a couple of sheets of plastic, one on each side, cut to the triangular shape of the space inside the body of the ski, from the bottom up to the top of the ski, where the axle will go. Then fill the top of the space with Gorilla Glue. Then when you drill the hole for the axle it will have a lot of support. We've just had our first snow today, seven inches and counting, so I've got the Clipped Wing Cub ready with both skis and floats.

Well I put the floats on the Super Cub seeing how theres snow on the ground. It needs some more power though. It has enough power to fly around but not do really any high alpha. It barely has enough power to do an inside loop, an outside loop, forget it. I need a bigger prop, right now I have a 10x7. The floats are still alot of fun there by far my favorite accessory for the SC. It looks so scale.

BTW, dubro does make a nose ski. The floats do need more power. The extra area of the floats can make for some interesting handling too. Aerobatics, in the wind particularly, is a new experience. I've been flying my 10 powered Clipped Wing off the snow almost exclusively with floats so far this winter. It's lots of fun.

I've been flying my 10 powered Clipped Wing off the snow almost exclusively with floats so far this winter. It's lots of fun. I just ordered a 10x8 prop last night for it. Im thinking maybe eventually putting a bigger brushless motor in the Super Cub. The 480 doesnt provide as much power as I hoped, Ill experiment with different props first though. I hate to say it but the brushed motor with the 10x8 prop might of been a little faster than with the brushless 480 and 10x7 prop. One thing that I like about the floats is I can do touch and gos and also land pretty much anywhere in the field. Im also getting a Parkzone t28 Trojan for x-mas. I ordered it last night but Ill have to wait until x-mas to open it. Along with some Dubro skis, AR6110, heli parts and other things.

Sounds like a great x-mas coming up, basher!
There were two folks at the flying field this weekend with t-28s. The new ones have a grey foam that looks to be more durable. One fellow was doing inverted passes about a foot off the deck in a huge wind! That thing is stable!
Fun stuff! Kent

I remember my 480 SC as having plenty of power. ;D Beyond that: A 10 size motor and clip the wing is all I can tell you. And, a 40A ESC. HK has a 18 buck G10 1100kV motor that requires no shaft repositioning. Marry that to at least a 25C battery. The best prop for that combo I've found is a 10X8. Congrats on the T-28. You're going to an all new experience with that machine.

Congrats on the T-28! I still have mine and still love to fly it. The only fault is the super breakable nose gear holder. If it cracks, just shove some popsicle sticks behind it and use some 5 min epoxy. Never had an issue since and I've had some ROUGH landings.
You're gonna love this plane.
