Took a few pics today after I finally got everything up and runnin'. For the last couple of weeks I've had a few Irons in the fire, so I just now felt relaxed enough to post up some pics. I've loved every aggravating minute of it. Before After Gaui 425 (500 class), Hirobo Sceadu Evolution .30, TREX 600ESP Hirobo Inside the canopy Do not buy spray paint with your glasses off. I bought a matte clear instead of a gloss clear. So, one day when I want to take the time again I'll sand the matte and hit it with gloss. But i feel like flying if the weather holds up. It's supposed to drop to 62 mid week. We might get a freeze. I think I might need to get some of those transmitter gloves www.rcheliresource.com/turnigy-transmitter-glove-2-4ghzneckstrap-ready/Right now just a few engine run ups. I'm just trying to get to know it a bit. I don't want to flame out, because my autos are sucky.

I run out of fuel over 50% of the time so my autos are improving. I got the timer.A header tank. You name it but I still can't seem to bring it back running.lol....
Heli looks good. Hard to believe it's a .30 as big as it looks by the 600.

It's bigger than my 600, length and height. The thing about the Sceadu Evo's is you can convert it from .30 to .50 with a few simple parts and an engine. Kind of like the Gaui 425 (500) Hurricane can be made a 550. I might do it, because this engine is old, and the parts support for it is almost non-existent. One company, not even the original manufacturer (Century) sells parts for the Toki .40.
On that note. It's not behaving well. Glow starter on... runs great. If I pull the glow starter off it dies. It just started doing this. It was running great last night. I thought it was the glow plug so I put a brand new one in (OS#8)... same same. I thought maybe it was a fuel type mismatch. I'm using Cool Power 30% and other people say, in other forums, they run just fine with that combination. So, I don't know. It might be that the engines and pipe are old and not getting enough compression. ;D

Rear bearing maybe. That's usually a glow plug though.
I got a couple spare OS Hyper 50's. Let me know if you decide you need one.
I'd part with the Hyper 50 and a CY MP5 pipe for $100. Getting ready to go .90.

I think I'm going to check to make sure everything is tight i.e. head bolts, carb, bottom plate..... If that doesn't work I'm going to tear the engine down and check O rings, gaskets, and I might as well check the bearings too. I do believe it could be one of a couple of things.... I'm not getting enough compression; I'm running to rich and the fuel can't ignite; or the fuel is a mismatch for my glow plug. I thought that using 30% would be good, because the .30 engines tend to run hot....
One thing is for sure, as excruciating as the wait is to get this in the air, the knowledge I'm gaining is very valuable. I'm finding nitro to be a lot of fun, and I haven't even flown one yet. I'm keeping my electrics, but I don't look at them the same way anymore.
If I can't get it up and running by next payday, I'll take you up on that offer Ernie.

Thought I'd throw up some more pics and wait for the coffee to kick in before I get started hunting down the problem. This is the Hirobo next to my Trex 600 ESP (Hirobo on top). It's longer and taller. It really surprised me because I was expecting/wanting something a lot smaller. This is a good look at how the frame is set up. You can't see a whole bunch of detail, i.e. linkage set up. The servo and linkage set up is different from any other set up that I've come across. It's not CCPM. I had to set my swash type to "1 servo, Normal" in my radio. A closer look at the servo and control arms set up. You can see the Aileron and Pitch servos are on the same side. The elevator is on the other side. The upside to this is that it's a great beginner set up. There is no swash mix. The control rods are not adjustable. There's no way to screw this up. The swashplate remains level through the entire throw. I did run into some interaction with the radius block (head block), and I had to change my endpoints on my pitch servo. While trying to get maximum throw, both high and low, I found another issue at the low end. If you set your low endpoint on your pitch servo too low, you'll bend your pitch control arm when applying aileron throw. Your pitch on one blade goes negative while one stays positive. That would have sucked while flying. Rotor head. You can see the washout interacting with the head block here. Tail shot. Standard looking tail. Actually pretty sloppy. The hub has two shafts that run from it and are used to keep the blade grips in place. The ends are threaded and a nut goes on either end to hold the grip in place. I didn't have a nut driver that small, and there is a lot of lateral play (slop) in the grips. Flyable for sure, but more slop than I'm used to. All things considered, and with a working engine, this is a great beginner nitro. You can upgrade to a larger engine, and there is a CCPM conversion kit that can be bought. I'll probably get a larger engine, but I think rather than convert it to CCPM I'll keep it in throwback state, so maybe one of my kids or my friends can learn on it. It's a much simpler set up. Cant wait to see how it flies.
