Hey guys. I haven't been here in a while, but my fleet has changed a little since I was last here. I now have a PZ P-51, a PZ P-47 Thunderbolt with flaps and retracts, and an E-Flite T-34 Mentor (my first balsa plane). I can't tell you how much I love the Mentor..incredible plane. The P-47 is also a blast to fly, I run it on 4S and it is a rocket ship. I only have one heli left, a Tarot 500. I still love it Here's my fleet. The droops have been removed from the T-34's wing, I didn't like the way it flew with them on. I will be upgrading the motor in it to a Power 32 very soon and run it on 4S instead of the stock 3S with Power 25 motor.

Slowly switching to fixed wing, eh Colin? I think a couple of other fellas here have done the same thing.

I really like the warbirds Sol, I am shocked at how much really. But I can't give up the helis...I just don't want any more small ones. My next plane is a Hawker Hurricane when they are released next month. I have no desire to get an EDF jet (yet), it's just the warbirds for me right now. That may change, however.

Nice fleet Nun. I've kind of gone the same way with the planes. First the warbirds. All PKZ: Spitfire, Corsair (both shot down) P51 and P47D. All of these highly modified in their end form. I've got 3 civillian planes: Clipped Super Cub, um 4Site & Champ. Then I started fooling around with the EDF's last year. Now I've got a bunch of those in 50mm, 64mm and 70mm. My favorite is the TV F-16. I've still got the Black Hawk, G2 and Blade SR. I swear I'm going to build a 500. I haven't stopped flying helis I just don't do it as often. Here's a few pics.

That P-47 looks awesome 19K. I love mine, it flies real fast on 4S.

Fixed wings have their appeal. I went that way a while ago and never looked back. Heck of a fleet you got there.

Both P-47's look awesome. PZ does a nice job on their planes. Coincidently, last night, "Fighter Squadron" was on TCM. A 1948 movie with nothin' but P-47's with a couple of B-17's and some P-51's thrown in. They used the P-51's with German markings to play the part of the ME-109's. The tip-off was the bubble canopy on the P-51's. As far as I know the ME-109's didn't have that.
Yeah, anybody that had a father that participated in WW2 is a true warbird fan.

Ive somewhat switched to fixed wing too. In the past couple of months Ive only flown my Exi 450 once. Ive been flying the t28 and brushless super cub as much as I can.

Nothing wrong with a few planks in the house. Heck as many of you may already know that is what got me started some 25 years ago in this here hobby. Still have all of mine, even if they are boxed up and put away. Who knows one day when I get old like Solitaire might break them out again.

Thanks nun. I'll be doing 4s with it too and a 25 motor with a different fuse. I'm going to use the same wing. Right now I'm just enjoying some scale like flying. I can't think of a warbird that looks better flying scale...but then I can't think of a bird that would look better at 100mph either...except maybe a Spit. The P51 does about 80 and it looks so cool going by on a low pass with the gear up. I'm redoing the paint scheme and I'll post some pics when I'm done. And that Hawker looks like it's going to be a real neat plane. Sol, I'm going to try to find that movie. I don't think I've ever seen it. I thought I'd seen them all. ;D Thanks Dave for letting us fixed wing guys have a voice on here too. I think you're plenty old enough for flying a few yourself. If you wait to get as old as sol... ;D Hey r/c I'm finally going to get a truck too! A stampede "Grave Digger". I told my wife it was for HER. She's a little gullible...She has to be to be married to me for 40 years.

Hey r/c I'm finally going to get a truck too! A stampede "Grave Digger". I told my wife it was for HER. She's a little gullible...She has to be to be married to me for 40 years. Thats great to hear 19k, I have two stampedes and I love them. There really easy to work on, and pretty durable. Dont bother buying nimh or nicd batteries, buy lipos. Im not 100% sure but I think the esc now comes with a lipo cut off. You can only use 7.4v lipos with it, not 11.1v. The charger that comes with it is just a cheap 4 hour wall charger I think. If you have a programmable lipo charger it will probably have a setting for the nimh battery that comes with it. Unlike planes and helis the nimh battery will serve you well until you can buy a lipo, just dont let it go completely dead when running. Pretty much all the parts and upgrades for the regular stampede will work with the Grave digger. When buying lipos, buy hardcased ones, also some hardcased lipos wont fit. The ones that are round will that look like a nimh battery, but the ones that are square wont. Its waterproof too but I wouldnt recommed running it in a lot of water, I ran my stampede last winter in the snow and now alot of screws are rusting and water wreaks havoc on bearings. Im thinking about buying a castle brushless system pretty soon for my stampede and push it to 50 mph.

Thanks for the advice r/c. We'll definitely convert it to lipos. I've got a good charger too. One of the reasons were going with Stampede is becasue of parts availability. We may get a few different bodies for it.
I heard a funny story the other day. A guy called hobbyzone and asked customer service if the Stampede was water proof. The CS guy answered "Yes". The caller said. "No it isn't. I drove mine into the pool and it won't work anymore." ;D AS Yosimite Sam used to say, "What a moroon."

A lot of really nice stuff there kent. It's amazing how you can build a fleet. It kind of sneaks up on you. I just realized I haven't even thought about flying the ArtTech Mig 15 I modified last year or my F35 from World Models. They're still hanging there from the winter. Time to get the ladder out.

Here's a pic of my plank fleet: [/img] Notice that the one on the left is an exact copy of the one on the right. They are stealth bombers.
