I think you'll be surprised, Ray, as the stock helis are so overpowered for 3d stuff that they can lift a ton. Elkmaster's 600 lifted 18 extra pounds of water jugs without even grunting!
My 450 lifted my 500, after I had a few brews and felt stupid! It didn't grunt either! I did a little, though. Kent

Thats Good to know Kent because I just custom made a search light for it as well!!! I don't know if Huey's had them but mine does!!! looks cool I will be able to go on a late night search and destroy mission and bomb the hell out of Dave's BBQ grill. Now I need to buy a DX7 or 8 so I have more channels to do stuff with.. Ray

Well I am buttoning up the Huey trying to get all the wiring to look neat and that is hard because of all the fancy crap I added. I also noted that the battery has to be far forward to get a good CG. I also see that others that due similar builds put the battery in the front cab or add lead ( Which I thought was kind of dumb) only to find the magnet that hold the forward canopy on cannot take the weight causing it to fly off in flight or in a light crash. At that point the canopy usually goes through the blades.
My solution was to mount it off the main frame by making a new battery mount out of Lexan this moves the battery clear to the front without touching the cab and is easy to mount the battery too. Lexan is about the only plastic that bends like aluminum and requires no heat to make the bends. More later.. Ray

Well here is a picture of the battery holder I made instead of putting the battery in the cabin and watching the cabin fall off (like some) The mount is made from Lexan and connect to the frame. You will also see two copper strips this is the connection for the Akent super strobes I have them firing out of sequence. If you look real hard you will see the board between the fram rails Thanks Kent!!. The main heli I purchased from Sol Thanks Sol and the metal head is courtesy of Ernie M. Thanks Ernie!! You will also see a custom floor for the servo and gyro I used a Sullivan CF cable for airplanes and yes I will clean up the wiring there is a lot after all the extras I put on it.. Ray Attachments:

The next one shows the gyro for a cheap $12 gyro I was amazed I throttled it up last night right up to it getting light on the skids and the tail was rock solid and I just put it together I made no adjustments!! I will clean up the wiring after I know the placement of everything works.. Ray Attachments:

Dave Thanks Dave I got brave or stupid last night and got it light on the skids the tail held solid like it was nailed to the floor..I may have to get different servos except for the tail the esky's did'nt seem to want to stay centered at first but they seem to have settled in..
