Dave, I've ordered from Heli-fever, Addictive Hobby, Hobby-City, Miracle Mart and a couple others, all china, Nothing over two weeks that I can remember. Heli-fever took the longest. I EMS'd from Miracle Mart and it got here in 5 calander days. I was surprised. I think Solitaire has had order issues with Aero before too. If I'm not mistaken, I think I remember him saying that his belt tail guide took a month or so. The compy parts and the Guru-Z parts are pretty much interechangable with some subtle differences. If Areo is taking too long, use someone else. Or post up what parts you need and I'll try and find you some. 8 weeks is nuts, 10 weeks for delivery and they don't get much of my business anymore.

EMS is the Hong Kong equivalent of the USPS Priority Mail in the U.S. It's the fastest service but obviously costs more than regular air mail.

Yesterday was a good day for me ;D. I received my Blade 400 RTF from UPS, I received 2 shipments from Hobbycity - one I ordered 12/28/08 shipped regular and one I ordered 1/30/09 I shipped using EMS. From now on I will pay the extra 20% in shipping to use the EMS and just make sure the order is just under 1 kilo since that is the cutoff weight. Now I'm just waiting for the compy kit to get here from Aero-fever to start my HBFP remake. The compy stuff should be here by Monday, I hope. As soon as I go over the kit it will be time to hit RTF up for the metal upgrades for the head, as soon as I figure out what will work. I'm hoping to be able to use the Walkera center hub and shaft. I'm just not sure of the length of the compy main shaft so I want to measure it and try and adjust accordingly to make it work.
UPS got to my house just before dark so I had no chance to play with the Blade 400 other than checking out the DX6i, boy do I have a lot to learn there. This is my first 6 channel Tx so it will take me several hrs with it before I even power up the heli just to get comfortable with everything.
I did order an extra Rx to put in my HBFP build, the ar6100, so I could use the DX6i with my new HBFP. I don't plan on flying the Blade 400 until I get some super-sized training gear for it. I will head over to the LHS today and pick up some 3mm CF rod for that along with some tubing to prevent damage to any floors from the rod tips.I saw Deal extreme has some bigger training gear but I don't want to wait that long. I would like to get it hovering over the weekend.

Dave, Its like Christmas all over! Make sure you check your linkage lengths with your calipers. They should match the specs in the 400 manual. You can level your swash with calipers too, actually its probably the best way to do it. I'm in the process of writing a DX6i set up thread, and I'm going over the steps in the manual with my Tx for clarifications sake. If you ask yourself questions, and then figure it out, probably someone else will ask their self the same question and could benefit from your experience. If you don't mind, take a moment to write those down and I would like to add them to my set up thread.
Thanks man, Robby

Well I got the Extreme metal head upgrade in today finally from Miracle Mart, took 15 days so longer than the 6-7 they quote on their site!! Anyway, gotta say it is well worth the money. Fits on nicely, even with the fiber frame upgrade and makes the handling so much more touchy compared to plastic. May have to put the flybar weights back on!! Problem with the heli now, is that I have the metal upgrade and the frame upgrade and it is getting too heavy for the stock motor, time for an upgrade. Since there isnt any info on the slomax and direct dirve upgrade, I think I will do these and then post some info and pics for those interested. This will fill in the time before I get my T-Rex sorted when I meet the guy at my LHS next week to help me with the head and pitch setup. Anyway, stay tuned and I will let you know how these go. Looking at about $11-$13 for the slomax and $7.50 for the DD tail.
P.S. Can't get the slomax and DD tail both from one place as they are sold out a lot. Ended up getting the GWS DD tail system for $7.50 from KA Planes, and then decided to just get the Extreme 380 motor from them too and try that, it seems more powerful which is what I'm after. Should have them this weekend. FYI, you can get a slomax motor for about $9.50 if your interested.

Hey Kiwi, if you are still using a 4n1 then put a 10amp fuse between the extreme 380 and the 4n1. I have read the motor doesn't play nice with the 4n1all the time so better to err on the side of caution. Safety first unless it involves blades spinning veerrrry fast

Yeah I have heard that too. I think it is because the head speed is faster and an abrupt stop to the blades is more likely to cause burnout in the 4:1. I will look into RTFhelis fuse thing I think as a good investment. I think also I may get a 6100e rx to bind to my DX6i and then I will be all set and ready for future upgrades to brushless if I go that way.

Well I can honestly say that the extreme motor mod is worth it as an inexpensive and simple mod for the HB without adding other stuff to it. With the old motor I had to go to about 70% throttle to get it up and then almost 100% just to fly round. With the extreme motor it takes off and hovers at 50% with plenty of extra power. You also don't need to upgrade the power of the tail motor as it actually holds better since I am not putting the power so far up now. So now I have the extreme fiber reinforced blades, metal head upgrade, and Guru-Z frame and she flies nicely. Have some photos and vid to get up when my laptop stops messing round and I can get it online, it has the camera card reader on it.
I did run into a problem though as the grub screw that holds the pinion on was almost stripped when I got it and didn't hold the pinion on properly leading to it falling off in flight and a sudden plummet. Nothing broken though so all good. I managed to get the HB up to about 30 feet for a trial, gets scary that high as thats total wipeout height right there!! Hope to have shots up soon.

Another inexpensive way to juice up the E-Sky HBFP 35Mhz/72Mhz heli is to add the 11.1v LIPO mod. you won't need to get an X-treme 380 motor just an 11.1v LIPO with a 370 motor w/11t pinion. Goto: www.rtf-heli.com/ESKYHBFPmod.htmlBelow is a video of the same mod but the the very similiar Exceed Falcon 40/Walkera #4. I didn't get time to do the video for the E-Sky HBFP but I was able to test using the 11.1v LIPO and 370 11t pinion carbon brushed motor. -Happy Flying !!!

Damage was minimal. I have glued the ball link back onto that same rotor head about 10 times already, and all that happened was the same ball link popped off and the blades came away. Thats the beauty of having a re-glued rotor head or using an o-ring as it creates a weak point that is easily fixed. I was back flying in about 5 mins after a quick glue job and battery change. You should see the difference with the extreme motor though, it is so much quicker and powerful. When I get the shaft replaced I will shoot another vid to put up to show the difference.
