I finally took the time to "Spektrumize" my HBFP (all my batteries were charging anyway) and I can not believe what a difference it made. Absolutely glitch free now. When it was new the stock tx/rx wasn't that bad but lately the glitches have gotten a lot worse. I used an AR500 rx (saving the 6100 for the G2) and it could not have been easier.

How is it that the AR500 costs about $10 more than the 6100e and only has 5 channels, which pretty much limits it to 4CH heli's. I was thinking an AR500 would be good for my HB too but then with the 6100 only being $50 as opposed to $60, I think I will just get that then can use it for a 6CH later if I decide to. Kind of doesn't make sense that they would charge more for a 5CH rx. Anyone know the reason??

I have an AR500 in one of my fixed wings. The difference is in Rx frequency redundancy (One long and one short ant) for better reception and longer range. Each antenna sees sees a different RF environment. Also it has dual aileron slots. that's all good for planes not so much for helis.
BTW, I've used the AR6100e in both planes and helis and have had excellenct success.
Happy landings

That's cool to know about these receivers!!
Thanks 19k. Dual aileron servo outputs would be a godsend for a number of slab designs. I could have used that in my old 1/3 scale Christen Eagle bipe (Saito 270 twin). I ended up using a single GIANT aileron servo that went to all four ailerons. But this was 25 years ago! That slab still sits on a shelf in my bedroom, and the wife even likes it! It's purdy!
Yep, Spectrumizing the HB is a wonderful thing to do!! That's the first mod I did to mine. It had an AR6200 at first (from the DX6i kit). Later I robbed that for one of my Exi's and used an AR6100. All awesome! Kent

I've seen a video about this mod, but can't remember where. Does anyone have a link?

Kent, I bought the AR500 for use in a 300 size 3D plane. You've got to have twin aileron servos in those babies with no splitter and it's got a mixer so you can do elevons; neat for some of the EDF's.
The slab sounds cool. Please post us a Pix over in the General RC area .
I haven't done it, but it sounds like the AR500 works great in a spektrum converted 4ch. like Tony's.
Happy landings

Works really well. I didn't even need to adjust the gyro. I did put a -30% expo on the aileron and elevator though, now it is very responsive to control input.
You can do the dual aileron thing with the 6100 and 6200 too but, with the 6100, you have the drawback of limited range. It may not be a big deal on a small 3D plane or a heli because its not going to get that far away anyway. I like the AR500 because it is still a "full range" Rx and is $20 cheaper than the 6200. As long as you don't need that 6th channel that is.
