After being shamed by 19000 I have decided to do the Hotrod G2 thing after all. OK.That said. I got the 3DX parts today so I started without the G2. Most of the major components were assembled.Too bad really. I received.... Main rotor head.Assembled. Fly bar and paddles.Remember?I didn't get them last time.lol. Tail gear.Assembled.Even the belt is installed Skids.Something to put together.Yeah. Brushless motor.Size is a mystery.Probably sell the motor cheap. Tail boom.9mm.With CF struts. Main gear. Frame.Nice ;D Painted FG canopy. Ok.The first thing I grabbed was the skids.Need something to hold the heli up.Right? Now attach the skids to the frame. This will help when putting on the tail fins. Now release the eight screws in the tail boom mounts in the rear of the frame. Slide the main gear into place and after fishing the tail belt through the tail boom, tighten the tail gear and install the tail boom. Now install the tail fin, stabilizer wing and struts.Pretty simple if not tedious. You're going to have to let the rudders push/pull rod run outside the left side of the tail fin and over/outside the tail strut.Odd.I know but necessary. Now for the rotor head.Super simple.Slide it in through the bearing and carrier in the frame.Through the main gear. And insert the inner shaft through the U-shaped connector on the bottom.Tighten the grub in this. Also, insert the grubs and snug in the main gear. The linkages are a little different from a G2.It has a TREX style flybar cage. The linkage from the swash to the flybar halo should be approximately 44.77mm.I know. Not very approximate. If you can nail 44.75 it would be great. The linkage from the blade grip to its actuator should be as short as possible.Make the ends touch, From that actuator to the washout should be 28.13mm. 28.1mm to 28.15 is OK.Just make them equal. That goes for every linkage and its mate. More to come...

Installed the pinion gear on the motor and installed the motor. I also installed and centered the flybar. More to come...

How do the skids look? I got the same ones for the EXI.
Ernie, can you measure the length of the boom supports? I need something for the Neon and can't find the right length.

The skids are nice IMO.They appear to fit loosely but you'll notice four tiny tiny screws in the package. These are set screws. There are holes in the inside bottom of the suspension to insert the screws thus holding the skids in place.
The struts are 9 3/4".
Good luck doozer ;D

Look closely at this pic.Notice that the gear looks warped. It IS warped and I did it. I didn't get the pinion gear on the shaft far enough and when I tightened the motor mount screws it lifted the gear. Make sure when putting the pinion on the motor that it goes all the way on.As far as it will go. I'm considering spooling the motor up wide open and using a file to cut into the gear like a lathe. The non-toothed part of the pinion is no longer lifting the main gear but it does touch it. I don't know.I'll wait and see if it is an issue or not. I doubt it really.

Here's what I'm talking about. Notice how the teeth on the pinion gear don't quite go low enough to completely clear the main gear. I don't really see or hear a problem yet though.

That's gonna be a problem ern. Got to get rid of the pinion shoulder where it contacts the gear. You might try some spacers between the motor and the frame before you start modifying the pinion.
Happy landings

Thanks 19.Just did that.0.3mm did the trick.
I gotta be more careful.I'm home with a cold today and almost sneezed all my fasteners into oblivion.

Take some Benedril with a bud chaser. It may not cure your cold, but you'll care less about it. ;D
Happy landings
