I think Kent is right,,,,Ernie,,,get an opticle tach and check your 'actual' headspeed. Mine was hitting 3250 with a 35C battery so I went down to a 14T pinion. Now I'm running just under 2900 and that is plenty. 3200 is scary on these,,,,,I opt for the power over the speed and I like it,,,,this Scorp doesn't even burp!! ;D

OK,here's the deal....
My every intention was to make the 15T a permanent change so there was 601 Locktite involved with the install. As well as a die grinder.
Now... I've let you guys talk me into a 14T pinion and the swap was awful. There was a small cro-bar,Vise Grips and a pipe vise involved.A small torch and some more Locktite came in as well.
If this thing flys like crap when I get my tail parts,a Nationwide tour begins with boxes of junk parts and a whole sack full of black eyes.lol.....
No,seriously,I think y'all are right. It sounds sooooo fast and it is jittery too.Smooth but too fast to react.
Got my fingers crossed.I hate waiting for parts now more than ever before ;D

A tach is cheap.... Or free for the borrowing. Thanks.Seriously.But shipping it back and forth would be more expensive than buying one myself.

Ernie,,,,I have this one: www.helidirect.com/hobbico-lcd-digital-minitachometer-p-2215.hdx I just put it in a bar clamp and set it next to my heli out in the sun. It reads continuously for 5 minutes and the numbers are big enough to read from 10 feet away. Works great. The 1400 scorp w/14T I'm getting 2930 at take-off and 2840 at landing after 6 minutes. I just reach down and turn it on before landing.

I need to get one of those. My 25 year old analog tach is too hard to read from 10 feet away. I can read it to +/- a couple hundred rpm, but that's it, and it doesn't work in bright sunlight. It needs some contrast from shade when aimed up. Plus the wind from the blades knocks it over!
My next order from HD, I'll pick one of those up. Cool. Kent
