The two most commonly broken parts on the falcon 40 are the main rotor head and the servos. So I decided to get the metal rotor head(same one as rtf has on his website) and a bunch of towerPro 9g servos. So here are the problems I now have. 1. the little piece that goes inside the rotor head (plastic piece that holds the flybar) has a very tight fit and therefore won't move very easily inside. 2. the servos seem to not quite fit right. I think rtf has these servos from the pictures I saw. So im guessing I either have bad luck or he did something extra to get the servo in. Need all the help I can get, THANX.

I can help ... Okay Alex, you must have bought the metal rotor head core from Mike at www.ushobbysupply.com. Apparently, we are the only two companies that currently sell it in the U.S. The core requires some components from a broken plastic rotor head core. Namely the plastic pivot and the two collar bushings. I had the same problem. Simon was not really helpful. The plastic pivot is too big on the sides. So, the answer to the problem is using sandpaper and hand sanding both side evenly until the plastic pivot just slides into the rotor core head. Position the pivot in the center and then place one bearing on each side and the gently press both sides. Press against a flat surface and the rotote to the other side to get both bearing in. It'LL take like less than 5 mintues to sand. If you already have the pivot in the core, then you need to break it and get another pivot and set of bearings. There is no other way. I had the same problem. I wish I could update his manual because it will discourage many. Maybe I can do an addendum *.PDF file and place it next to his on my website. His cores are made really well, it just doesn't come with the pivot and bearings. If you want, I can sand your pivot and place in the metal core. Just send me a broken plastic core with the components and the metal rotor head core. E-mail me at sales@rtf-heli.com for the address. These are made by Simon. His instruction manual can be found at my website. www.rtf-heli.com/files/DF4_Core_Installation.pdfWith regards to the TowerPro 9 Gram servo. I use them because they are better than the stock and cost less than the stock. They usually last longer for a plastic gear servo. The TowerPro servos all have the servo wires coming out from the top, just like the stock servos. To keep them in place, since there is no place on the top to screw them in like on a bigger heli like the Exceed Raptor G2 which uses the same servo, you need to get some nylon tyvek 4 or 6 inch ties. These can be found at Home Depot or Lowes. Buy the 1,000 tie bag, as it is cheaper. You'LL need them for securing down wires especially if you decide to get the brushless upgrade which I am almost finished testing and will be ordering supplies for production in late February 2009. Look for the new item at www.rtf-heli.com-Happy Flying !!!

I took your advice and I completely destroyed the pivot in the core since I HAD two. Then I used sandpaper to make the other one skinnier and it worked and only took about 2 minutes of sandpapering and fitting. So all that worked great.
The second problem I had were the towerpro servos, I still have no idea exactly how to put them on since they don't exactly fit right. Do you have a picture of a falcon 40 with the towerpro servos that I can see?
LOL here's the picture of the destroyed pivot and my undestroyed pivot. Never mind, I couldn't figure out how to put a picture on here.
Thanx for all the help.

Glad you were able to sand down the pivot. Anyway, here are some pictures of the towerpro 9g servo. Goto to the bottom of the web page. www.rtf-heli.com/bsmodpicture.html -- I used a nylon tyvek tie on the servo on the other side. Hope this helps. BTW, the top picture is a brushless mod I am concurrently working on for the Exceed Blazing Star Co-axial 4-channel electric heli at the same time I am modifying a brushless for the Exceed Falcon 40/ Walkera DF#4.

Thanx for the picture, how does your servo stay in place there, no zip ties or anything. Or does it just hold okay by itself.
Also do you have any pictures of the other side. I do not need that as urgent, but I will eventually when I have to use two tower pro servos.
PS You think buying 7 9g servos is a bit much or no. (I have a g2 and f40)
:DAgain thanx for everything, big help ;D

Hey, I have the same. I have two G2's and three Exeed Falcon 40's and two Exceed Blazing Stars. That's a handful. Everything is going to be brushless If I have my way. Thank goodeness the G2 and the Falcon 40 use the same 9 grams servos. I bought a dozen last week. It's not silly. It's actually even cheaper. I would do it. There is no need to get metal servos, unless you are going to do aerobatic inverted flying on the G2. The Falcon 40 does not need metal gear servos as it would be over kill. I know this because I already did this and its a total waste of money, but to each his own. Okay goto: www.rtf-heli.com/bsmodpicture.html The additional two pictures are of the other side of another Falcon 40. This Falcon 40 has the brushelss motor installed so there are a lot more wires at the bottom of the super skids landing gear. I use the tyvek ties alot. See the tyvek tie wrapped around the servo. That side requires the tie as it came come loose. Also on that side, you need to sandpaper the servo horn as it is tight against the airframe. This will keep the servo in place better and it will place less strain on the servo because it won't rub against the airframe. I will be introducing the brushless main motor kit this weekend. I have been testing different brushless motors for the last two months and I'm ready to take it public. I took a you tube video yesterday and will be incorporating it into a new tab on the www.rtf-heli.com web-site. -Happy Flying !!!

Ok thanx for all that information. I think that sums up just about all the concerns I could have thought with the servo. Now I'm going to go buy some 6in wire ties, the 4in wire ties were like 2 mm short of going all the way around the servo, O well. Once again thanx and I will post anything else I need tonight once I finish fixing my falcon 40.

Also, are the flybar paddles the same as the stock or are they different. Also, which is better to use the ones on your website or the superskids paddles and flybar.

The Paddle at the end points are different and won't fit the metal flybar rod, so you need to get the flybar paddle to attach to the metal rod. The one I am selling are much better. You'll need the allen hex wrench that came with the heli to install this flybar unit.
The flybar paddle super skids sells are shorter and as a result give less stability, but offer more flexiablity for high speed flying. The metal one's are more stable and offer less flexiblity. It's what you want to do. I like the metal ones as they look cool and offer smoother flying although less agile than the super skids. Every flybar has it's place.
The metal HBFP swashplate (can be used with the Exceed Falcon 40/Walkera #4) just came in and the E-Sky 1,000mah LIPO batteries also came in. Waiting for the Super Skids from Canada.

I'm gonna start buying upgrades very soon, I'm mostly just waiting for the brushless. What would you recommend me getting if i'm trying to do a full upgrade. Would all the parts work together (all the ones on your website). Everything except the motor, because I am waiting for the brushless. Las but not least, how much will the brushless cost?
Sorry for all the questions, its just that I like to know information. I'm hoping a lot of the question I am asking won't be asked again since they are already answered here.

Thanx, I will order soon, hopefully with the brushless so there is less shipping cost. Also, did you see the post that is three posts up? (You don;t have to answer if you really don't know the answer, but :

The parts that are at the x-treme menu bar all work with the Exceed Falcon 40/ Walkera #4. The Xtreme Composite Blade Grip for E-SKY HBFP and Metal Paddle Control Frame for E-SKY HBFP are somewhat tight. for my Exceed Falcon 40, I would get the following parts for metal upgrades.
CNC Aluminum Rotor Core Head Metal Swash Plate for E-SKY HBFP Metal Flybar Rod w/ weights Flybar Paddle Metal Tail Strut (Requires SuperSkids 300)

So I won't need the fuse mod for brushless. Also do the other metal parts help? I already have super-skids, the funny thing about it is that I bought superskids the day before I fell from 30 feet and broke the landing gear completely. LOL Sorry, I just saw the message now.
