I read about that too, and ended up using a piece of heatshrink over the motor, overlapping the end, with the tail rotor pushed all the way in. I don't think it can go anywhere. The other remedies look good, too.
I know I've smacked the rear a number of times, too, even before I did that fix. Nothing has broken there! Kent

Since all I do with mine is backward flight and tail down funnels, all my 150-200 crashes so far have all been tail first.
Not an issue yet ;D

Kent I don't think heatshrink is good idea for the motor it'll insulate it and hold heat in. I posted this in RC Grups. And I put a very small amount of CA glue on the rotor and shaft and the plastic cap at end of the motor. If you put CA glue on the plastic cap apply the glue with the motor upside down so no glue can get inside of the motor. Bob

I can't feel the flying difference with the rotor at the end of the shaft or pushed in. I think I'll pull it back out now that I have the heat shrink on there anyway, though. I don't recall the tail motor even getting warm on mine. It surely doesn't now, but maybe it is a bit insulated. I did this to mine a few hundred flights ago. Kent

I know what you saying. A couple of times i crashed by not having enough correction in the tale wile flying and I read in RC groups somewhere putting the rotor at the end of the shaft for more control in the tale so I tried it. And it seems to be better to me. I'm flying much better now so i'm crashing less often. But with all the crashing I did the CA glue is still holding the end cap on. Knock on wood.

You bums. Mine has only one flight on it so far and that's from the vendor to here via airmail. And it's still in flight Yeah, I'm whining again.

Got the same LiPo from another eBayer for the mCX. As good as the EFlight ones plus they have the little pull tab which makes it easier to get it out of the charger.

I just received my shipment from Hobbycity that included 4 of their Turnigy 138ma batteries. These were $1.79 each! I have only been able to fly one so far, and it is just fine!
Yes, I added those onto an order for a 30c 6s 5000ma, which was also almost free, well relatively! Kent

Ok, I pulled the tail rotor out to the end and flew it like I always do. The difference is what, 1/8", maybe 1/4"?
I then flew the crap out of the MSR, doing a million Piro's and keeping the tail motor whizzing. After 6 minutes, I immediately felt the tail motor. It was COOL! The only thing warm on this whole heli was the battery.
So, I'm saying that from my experience, there is NO problem with using the heat shrink tail motor fix. The little poof of the heat shrink on the end will also form a 'cushion' of sorts on the end of the motor if it ever hits anything as well.
Just my experiences. Kent

Oh, and I couldn't tell any difference in flight with the tail rotor pulled out to the end of the shaft, or pushed in to the end of the motor... Kent

Kent Ya your probably right the amount of heat it retains mite not be harmful. As far as the rotor goes for what it's worth I took a pic of mine out of the box and noticed it was at the end of the shaft. And I was reading on RC groups the plastic cap was falling off when they crashed so I put an O-ring www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=EFLH3013 in between the motor and the rotor and CA glued the cap so far so good. Bob, what you did sounds like it's a better way to fix these. I like the idea of a cushion from the o-ring if you smack something! Kent

Say, did you guys have to set your Tx throttle extents with the mSR? I'm using a DX6i and don't have a lot of top end throttle. I'm at 3/4+ throttle and so far, no liftoff.
I need to find a bigger area than my kitchen to find out where liftoff exactly is.
