Got a 450 Q for you guys. How exact are you able to trim your 450? I can tweak, tune and toy with mine all day long but the trim is never perfect. I can get it where it will drift slightly one way or another. I'm talking about around 1 ft per second or so. Not much. BUT then when I recenter my sticks next time, it may be drifting the other way at about the same rate. Never perfect and often not drifting in the same direction twice. Would this be due to slack in the head, swash, servos Not a big issue, but I would like to figure it out and someday perfect it.

BT finless has a couple vids on trimming the head out so that the flybar paddles don't mix with the blades and cause some wondering from each other's influences just a thought to check on

Yes, I've seen those. Honestly, I didn't check that. I used to do it all the time. I'll give that a shot tomorrow. Thanks AK

Finless' videos are really good. I've found though that there will always be a little drift no matter what I do. It never hovers perfectly - that's in the pilot.

I'm sure you're right about that, but the hiden engineer in me wants it to be perfect, so if I come up with something that gets me just a little closer I'll be satisfied....scratch that. I'll never be satisfied ;D I have been neglecting my interaction checks. Has anyone done any better with a tighter swash, 2 bearing servos or anything like that?

I've seen my heli guy at my LHS wiggle my EXI swash and then wiggle an Align swash. The Align swash was tight as could be while the EXI swash had noticeable slop. He said it was all in the manufacturing.
Also, I would switch to Align ball links. Believe it or not, they make a difference.
Haven't tried the two bearing servos yet though.

I trim my helis by the 'law-of-averages',,,like BT says,,,they never drift the same, especially when you are close. What I do is try to hold a stationary hover for about 30 seconds,,,,and I take note of where the average stick position is to maintain that hover. You'll notice that holding a good hover,,,your stick won't be perfectly centered,,'on average'. Then I either make a trim adjustment,,,,or even use the subtrim to bring the stick 'average' back to center. If I have a high subtrim value,,then I adjust servo linkages to bring the subtrim close to zero.
You will NEVER get a heli to hold a hover by itself,,,there are just too many variables,,wind,,thermals,,battery,,temperature. When you get the stick centered to hold a hover,,,thats about the best you can hope for.
I've found that when you get the stick centered (same amount of inputs in all directions to hold a hover),,,the heli will hold an inverted hover just as well.
Thats the Yooper way!! ;D

The Yooper way sounds good.
Any more, I mostly just fly and ignore the trims, unless they are way off.
But really, these things are not meant for stability!!! Heck, that would take the fun out of flying em! Well, not. Kent

So my Turnigy Typhoon motor crapped out on the bench a few days ago. It just froze up and then there was that burning smell. I swapped it for the alpha 400 again. Tail is still not holding well. Any suggestions for a good gyro and servo that you guys like?

Bought the JR 270 gyro and a JR mini digital servo. Install and test flight tomorrow.

The JR 270 and whatever $80 JR mini servo I bought were a snap to install and the tail it like a rock! Setup was a snap. All I had to do was flip the reverse switch on the gyro. Got the gain set at 68%.

Man, took her out for a few flights today - I feel like I've been so cheated for the last year. I was using the stock esky gyro that came with the Blue Ray. With this new jR setup, 3D juat got soooo easy for me. I was in 10-15 mph winds and the tail didn't move on anything!
Highly rocommend the setup!

I am new to the 450's and need some help. I have a couple of stripped servo's to replace on a Blueray 450PE, the original numbers (dont have tha actual number in front of me now but it is also an 8g and propbebly anolog) these originals are no longer a listed item on the x-heli parts section, the replacements under the Blueray 450PE listing are not shown under the normal servo parts list for EXI servos so I am a little confused. The replacements under the RTF model listing are 18H-EE0084 (plastic gear) 8.00 each and 18H-EE0089 (metal gear) 16.00 each, are these unique, why are they not listed in the servo section, would I have to do any wiring or do they come with the proper generic plugs, do they come with the arms, what is the difference between a digital and anolog and if the originals were 8g and all replacements i look at are 9g is that fine?
I just need to make a quick decission so I can get flying again, dont mind spending a buck to upgrade a little, any suggestions welcome. BTW, I am in the pacific northwest and need these sooner than later so if someone has a quick source I would appriciate that too.
