I'm betting it's this motor, Kent. I'm using two of these in a redone Big Lama on 3S and they are light and powerful. I think they'd be excellent in this application. www.xheli.com/al2502oubrmo.htmlThanks Sol! That motor does sound nice. I can't wait to hear how it flies on 19k's F22!

You're having why too much fun with that, Kent. Did I hear the prop hit the ground at about 2:30 into the vid?

Nice offer, Kent, but I'm going to wait until I can build one. Half the fun to me is the build. Kind of ironic that I don't seem to have as much fun during the repairs Don't know about driving to Austin. There's some wierd people down there ;D Weird? Well, I guess so. Austin's motto is after all, "Keep Austin Weird!". But I live in Spicewood! Hah! === I hear you on the build part! That's my favorite thing too! YES, you heard the prop hit a rock! Didn't even dent it!!! Well, maybe a little! The plane itself was only a millisecond or so from that rock!

I'm only guessing that was what 19k was referring to. The only caveat that I can see with that motor is the specs say 2S. I'm using them with a 3S, but don't fly my BL at WOT like you could with a plane. Not sure how it would last under constant full power.

Funny observation... I think Dube said it sounded like an 049 Cox, but if you look closely, you can see "smoke" when it does a fly by. It's likely just the video codec, but it sure looks and sounds like a little puffer.

Just got back from flying everything! It's a beautiful day here, low 60's with 5-15mph winds. A little windy, but not bad! I'm uploading some high alpha F22 vids now. I'll post a link when it's done. Anyway, in the wing, I used a long 5mm CF tube towards the rear and a 3mm tube towards the front, as shown on the plans. On the leading edges, I used 5mm wide flat strips. In the fuselage I used 3mm square. I also built a triangular cage like thing on the bottom but that wasn't stiff enough for me, so I put 3mm squares on the top. I didn't bury those on the top, as the bottom triangle was buried. Edit: There's more! The bottom strakes have a 5mm flat CF strip along them, and the rudder has a 2mm flat strip along the leading edge. So, it's all probably overkill, but the thing is very rigid. It hardly flexes, even in higher winds. My F22 has unlimited vertical with the above parts, but it's not that fast. Your motor kv and power sounds perfect, 19k! Which motor is it? I think you are going to love this thing! I had three crashes with the F22 today doing high alpha and there is zero damage! One crash was HARD, too! Kent Thanks for the details Kent. I'm using The Grayson V2 pkg from my F117. It was pretty reasonable price wise considering almost instant gratification vs. waiting for China. www.graysonhobby.com/catalog/parkjet-combo-2212-super-sonic-brushless-combo-p-414.htmlThey have a V3 pkg if you want a lot more power.

Kent, I couldn't see anything on this in the F22 build video on RCGroups, but is there any offset to the motor mount? Or is it 90 degrees to both horizontal and vertical planes?
I'm really in the mood to build one of these...as soon as I can find a Canadian supplier for EPP.

It might be foam dust, as I understand the noise comes from a foam/prop air density interaction! Sounds like fun! Kent

I originally built mine with a couple of degrees of down and left (since it's back facing) and that was a huge mistake. I tweaked it the other way and that was worse. These need to be ZERO ZERO. The closer to zero the better. Once I did that to mine, that's how I can now just let go of the thing when launching, even with the large prop. What you don't see in these videos is all the debugging time! But I love that part, too! Best, Kent

Got my patterns cut this evening. EPP tomorrow, probably. Not sure about the motor and electronics yet

Which one you building, BT? The 24" or the 32"? There's also plans for a 16", but I think that's a bit too small. I found a Canadian supplier for EPP, but they want a ton of cash for their products. I may have to go to the US and pay the higher shipping, unless something else comes up.

Just thought I'd throw this in... Anyone that doesn't feel up to taking the time to build one of these, I found a site that'll sell a kit, electrics excluded. This is an F35, but is almost identical to Kent's F22. www.midwestfoamplanes.com/products/f35.php
