We'll see if this motor can handle it! I need to check the ESC to see if it can handle it. It's a Turnigy 40amp that looks a lot like a Hobbywing.
Actually, I cheated before with the 86mph speed. There was a little tail wind.
Oh, I got in some 6x5.5 props so I'll try those this weekend. These are the 'E' version. Is this the right one?
I do like the Turnigy motor on here, though. It still runs cool! Kent

The 6x5.5 'E' that I have is very thin and stiff. It is maybe a little thinner than the 6x4 and 6x5's that I have from HC. These have that 'hump' in them though. After reading some other forums, it seems as though these are the fast ones? I have not been able to find any 'sport' or S400 or other in this size. Humm... I'm confused now.

Me too. Why wouldn't a 6x5.5 be available in a sport prop?

Hmmmm... Good question. The one I'm using is the "e" prop and I'm positive I've cleared 100mph with it. Here is the description of the prop from A Main Hobbies: This is the APC 6x5.5 Thin Electric Propeller. APC propellers are manufactured using a pultrusion process which allows for a higher fiber (60%) to resin (nylon binder) density. This provides substantially higher strength and stiffness than with glass filled nylon. The additional stiffness is beneficial to control of vibration resonance response. The higher strength allows the use of thinner cross-sections, beneficial to weight and aerodynamic efficiency.
Features
* Computer-optimized design gives these props a thinner profile and more "bite" with less noise * Lightweight molded nylon construction reduces rotating mass for higher output and longer life * Reinforcing fibers help maintain true, constant pitch at any RPM * Thin electric propellers work well with Electric powered Park Flyer-type aircraft
I doubt that the prop is "less noisier" than the other one. With a 4S battery, my Stryker can be heard from a mile away - I've had several complaints ;D

Interesting stuff gabe. I wouldn't neccessarily doubt that the APC "E" prop was thinner, but when I compared it to the APC sport prop the sport prop seemed stiffer. If you're getting 100mph out of an "E" prop then I guess Kent may be having another issue.

Just a heads up guys, I increased my thrust angle on the motor by adding two washers to the right side of the mount, on the inside (looking at the motor mount from the rear). I'm pretty sure I was experiencing what is known as "torque roll". Here's a diagram I snagged from the Darkside Threads: Currently at WOT, she flies straight and level. I have all of the elevons capable of their maximum deflections, but the Stryker still won't roll into a turn at WOT. After some investigation, I'm certain that the stock elevons and airframe are the culprits. I have the Mega 16/40/X with Gryphon from the Darkside Threads right now and he is prop testing it for me this week. The Darkside build should commence in a week or two. The new airframe will be up to par including balsa elevons, CF hinges, CF tubing reinforcement, and a 6S battery to power this bad boy.

Humm, unless I'm losing it (quite likely!), I really remember running the 6x4E prop on the F-22. I replaced that with a 'Sport' clone 6x4 prop from HC. This prop works great on there with the Grayson motor. That's what I'm still running on there.
I ran the Stryker with the new Turnigy motor with the Parkzone 6x4 prop at first. That's the one that came apart! I had a spare. Then I ran a 6x5 Sport clone prop that added a few MPH, but not much.
Now I have the APC 6x5.5E. Kent

Patience young Jedi. The Four-"S" is strong in this one. I love a good pun ;D Now that I've been given the secret handshake I guess I'm going to go right over to the Darkside and not spend any time with a stock set up. I look forward to seeing how the build goes

6x5.5E is faster, I think!
I flew it really quickly at the field tonight, just to get a feel. I didn't have time to enlist a radar worker. One fellow watched me fly who also has a Stryker. I got there after he flew his.
He was like Holy Cow that's fast! What did you do to it? I then showed him. He was all excited as the motor is cheap and everything else still works stock!
If it hit 86 with the wind before, I think it's hitting that no matter what now at least. It's fast and it doesn't sound much different with this prop as it did with the 6x4!
It's getting better and better with each change!
The force is strong in a package due to arrive tomorrow or Tuesday! ==== Ok guys. I'm going to lock this one down. It is the best flying adrenaline machine that I can imagine. It flies great and I'm afraid that if I make it much faster, it will start to handle poorly. Right now, at WOT in a straight line I can pop it straight up in a millisecond. It has unlimited vertical at about half throttle. It rolls at about 2-3 rotations/second at WOT going straight up! I just love it!
In summary, all I did was install a Turnigy 2836-2350 motor into a stock mount, used a Turnigy 40 amp ESC, and an APC 6x5.5E prop. The prop adapter came from HC, too. I won't be able to resist trying the new battery, though!
That's not to say I'm done modding one! I received my spare airframe and a few other parts for a really Dark build! These are too cheap and cool! I can't believe the airframe is 20 bucks, including the nose! I'll be reading the Darkside posts now and buying parts as time goes on. I already ripped out those fiberglass rods, or whatever they are in the new body... Kent

Very cool that the prop made such a difference. Now I've got to get one of these things soon. ;D

Awesome Kent! If you google "Stryker Darkside Build Part 8", Moparmyway has a build log on pages 1 thru 4. I've been advised to follow it to a "T". If you are going any faster than what you already have been, plan on at least adding cf tubing on the leading edges of both wings and one along the trailing edge of the plane. The one Mopar runs down the center of the plane doesn't really seem necessary.
Pages 3 and 4 show the balsa elevon build log, which is a must if your over 100mph. Where I'm at with the Six Series motor and the 6x5.5 prop, I have severe aileron flutter at WOT. The stock elevons and trailing edge of the wing are both deflecting. The stock plan was simply not made to go that fast.
When you package arrives, you will feel the power of the four-"s" and forever join the darkside.
