I'm a little late on this one, but motor rpm is in part determined by the blades. If I swap props on my Darkside Stryker from a 7" to 8" prop, the amps shoot way up and my max rpms will drop.
Ergo, by removing the mains while spooling up on the lazy Susan, the motor was freed of a ton of workload usually caused by the torque required to turn the main blades. In turn, it spooled up far past the rpms that the tail was designed for.

Again my thanks to all. I ordered a new ESC, a 40A with BEC and it's a Pentium. Ray recommended it so I ordered it. When I hooked up the program card to the ESC nothing was addressable, couldn't move or change any settings. Another question, Phil said if I left on the HH mode. How do I turn HH on and off? Thanks ..........ron

The switch you want to use is the gear switch the toggle switch just above your throttle. I just usually unplug the servo when I am doing setup or repairs and its all good then

At what point would I switch to HH mode versus reg. mode. For normal flying, no 3d stuff, what mode would I be using?

Well a new turn of events, this is getting to be a nightmare. When I T/on the TX and plug in the battery No beeps on the motor, actually very faint, but no song. Thought the ESC was bad so I replaced it with a 40A Pentium as stated above. The program card is not doing anything but lights up. The H switch did nothing but now I have full throttle at low stick and no throttle at full stick. I don't know what's going on now. Checked the throttle curve and set it to 0,25,50,75 and 100% and that did nothing. Any suggestions? ?

Plug one of the motors in from your BL I still find it odd that you have two defective esc's that the programming card does not affect.. Ray

Ray I thought about that but all the wires coming out of the ESC on the Lama are red. I don't want to mix them up with the red, black and yellow ones from the motors?

Ronp move your tx throttle lever to full up position then turn on tx then plug your heli in when you hear 2 beeps move throttle down to lowest position let us know what happens then you have to tell your esc what your throttle does high end and low end hope this helps
