I was just thinking we could start sort of a window shopping thread. If you're just looking around the online stores and you see something that catches your eye, post it up. It's interesting to me to see what you guys like and why. Sol was right... I might end up with a bunch of planes. I'm starting to really like Pylon Racers too. The QM 40's. Like this one And I'm totally addicted to the Biplane, but not all Biplanes. I like the Pitts The Ultimate: And this size too. Chisten Eagle: My eyes don't see like they used to and I get more enjoyment out of the bigger stuff. Easier to work with... in most cases. I'm likin' ARFs for right now, but I do see myself building a kit.

This thread is a good idea. I like the selections so far. I've done a lot of window shopping so the first stuff I posted here are some forward looking wish list items and some I've pulled the trigger on and why I did...And it was about as much what I consider to be a "good lookin' plane" as it was about a "good flyin' plane" that has taken me down this particular runway. I like the warbirds, but I've become an EDF addict of late. The biggest one I own is a 90mm F/A 18, but I've got my sights on some others including the Eurofighter. I like these planes because they're fairly large and powerful with a lot of features like, flaps, retracts, lighting systems and Thrust Vectoring that gives them an almost unlimited flight envelope. The next might be a twin 70mm Su29. The F/A 18. 37 38" X 52" The Eurofighter. 37 1/2" X 53" This is my Thrust Vectoring twin 55mm Mig 29. 28" X 40". Looking at the Big Brother Mig 29 Twin 70mm. it's 45" X 60" I like EDF's in all sizes, from, 35mm to 100mm in a variety of post WWII types, Korean War, and 3 and 4 series models from the F-16 to the F-35 and F-22. The smaller jets give you the flexibility to fly from small fields uisng a hand toss, the medium sized jets fly well off of parking lots and the bigger ones you take to a good flying field with plenty of runway.

A GeeBee is a good looking plane? I guess the beauty is in the eye of the beholder..as they say. I hear it's a bear to fly as well.
Anyway, good idea on the window shopping thread. Perhaps everyone can provide a link to their individual choices. Just a thought.

As far as the Gee Bee ... it looks like a muscle car to me. The only thing about that plane that doesn't look good to me is the open cockpit. I imagine that can be changed. Sort of looks like it from the picture.

This is a good lookin' plane...In a very menacing way. That's a sweet looking Jet. I like the white plane (the Navy Plane) in your last picture of your first post.

Just beware of Banana! I have seen more than one utter and absolute POS plane at our field now. If they sell anything nice, then I would be interested in seeing it. Of course, the folks here were after ultra cheap and they got it. Ugh. That forward swept job sure looks awesome, though! If anyone is after a Geebee, and likes the R3, then here is one that I fly. It has a very strong 35mm motor, a 50 amp ESC, and flies great! I love mine! And it's around 100 bucks WITH the power system! With an APC 12x6E and a 2200ma 4s, it's a rocket! www.cermark.com/products/Fantasy-Racer-.htmlKent

Hey Doozer, be sure to check out the E-F1 planes! This is a new electric Formula 1 class.
Eflite has the Pogo, and now a new plane the Shoestring. These are on the Horizon web site. New ARF's are coming from Hangar 9 and also Nitroplanes, if you can believe that! They will have a Miss Dara before long.
These are awesome fliers and you can race now with them! Hey, I actually won the novice class a few months ago in Austin!
I could post the NMPRA rules here, if you like. NMPRA = National Model Pylon Racing Association.
It's great fun to race these! They run around 110-120mph. Kent

That Gee Bee R3 is frickin sweet dude. Very sporty. It wouldn't let me copy the image location so I just did a screen grab: From what I've read, this version of the Gee Bee has never flown as an actual plane. It was designed by an Italian artist. Here's a video of a larger Gee Bee R3 Sweet!

That big R3 is absolutely awesome. I think HK has an R3. Horizon is coming out with a UMX GeeBee with a 3 axis gyro. secure.hobbyzone.com/coming_soon/EFLU4580.html It should be a great backyard flyer. The white jet is a HLI Rebel 70. I didn't like the graphics so I used some from a PKZ T-28. www.hobby-lobby.com/rebel_70_sport_arf_oversize_1034702_prd1.htm The plane is a 70mm on 4S. A very good flyer. Fast enough to be interesting and will do nice knife edge flight. The twin 55mm thrust vectoring Mig 29 from BH is very nice. Good power and very agile. Plus, it's a "good lookn' plane".

Yes the Scimitar is a bit pricey, but it has thrust vectoring too. Only time will tell if it is a sales success. I think it would be awsome to fly.

I just watched a video on Carbon-Z technology. Because there are different types of foam, I thought maybe they were mixing carbon fibers into the polystyrene. This wasn't the case. Having shaped balsa foam hybrid surfboards, I found the use of carbon extremely interesting, but not ground breaking. You're just replacing one material for another. It's more of an evolution than a revolution. My guess is that people have been doing this already for years (probably Ray), and they just slapped the Carbon-Z trademark on it.
Here's a video on what Carbon-Z is:
I'm going to go poke some cf rods in the wings of Stinson right now ;D
The Scimitar may seem expensive, but you have to remember there are 6 servos, a rx, a motor, and an ESC/BEC. Throw in some carbon fiber and $320 might be worth it. That's the plug and play... But with the BNF they're charging you $400. That's $80 bucks for their battery with the BS connectors and a crappy D/C field charger.... The same battery @ Hobby Partz is $32. Probably cheaper @ HK.
The plane does look fast and fun though. The Yak looks fun too!
