Thanks Elk........
I don't think I'll be doing many more "inverts" without supervision.........but at least I know the bird "and I" can do it......
And I'll not drink so much coffee before I try "the fancy stuff"......lol
My confidence in the build/set-up dept. has grown now since the BR met the challenge...I'm ready to start a new 450 build with better equipment......feeding the piggy bank as we speak....

Great stuff jdino2! I haven't got the balls to do that yet. I am determined to get inverted by the end of January though. I took the HBFP and the mSR to work today. I have a 4000 sq. foot showroom floor I can use to buzz around ;D Smashed the HBFP tail-first into the Christmas tree, was pretty funny. Flew 6 packs thru the mSR without incident. But I agree with Randy, that's a great story jdino. Nice going! Colin

Cool jdino2, your first invert on the BlueRay, I can't wait till I try mine for the first time I finally got to fly my BlueRay today for the first time in nearly 3 weeks. I finally got time this weekend, but wind was over 20 to 25 mph, today finally dropped to around 12 or so. We finally got some cool weather too, but was about 58 late this afternoon, ..and well, being from Florida, my hands kept getting cold, ...I'd hold the warm packs in my hand when I replaced them. ...ok, you all can stop laughing now... I burned thru 6 packs, just mostly circles, fast forward, and some figures eights, definitely starting to get the hang of this. A few time I just pushed the nosed over hard and pushed her hard FFF, this thing is pretty darn quick. Days like this remind my why I am so damn addicted to this.

Great story Jin. A similar thing happened a couple of years ago with my King 2. A guy flying nitro's took pity on me and took me through that first invert. I won't tell you what the comments were he made about the King 2. I'll let you guess. I've been through a drawer full of undies since then. ;D
Happy landings

4 more packs today, was really nice, very little wind. I have noticed the co-pilot does not like when the sun sets, it seems to really throw off my trims. This happened once before, but it was still new to me, so I thought it was just me, ..nope, it did the same thing again. I really had to adjust the trim alot on the last pack, and I must have lost track of time, cause as I was making my way to the landing area I didn't make it, and had to emergency land in the grass, about 8 inches tall Looks like I will be grounded by winds for next two days tho -

I flew the 4#3B in the basement today. Kids came running downstairs and ran into me and the other was running face first into the heli. As I was dropping the Tx, I reached out and grabbed the heli by the skids and pulled it away from them. Tx dropped to the carpet and the heli kept spinning. Everything seemed to be ok w/ the Tx but it was something REALLY funky. The heli was moving towards me and I guess my first instinct was to just grab it instead of trying to make it climb or manuever cause the 4#3B is not very powerful or manueverable. So the question is..... I think I should get a new MSR for safetry reasons right

The last two times I was at my LHS, I had to look away from the MSR, couple of guys were flying two different ones at same time, chasing each other, was really cool. I was soo ready to pull out the Amex, but didnt pull the trigger. Since I didnt get one for Xmas, I'm not so sure I will be able to resist my next trip Go for it Dave.

Go for it for sure guys. I have not had this much fun in the house in a long time. ;D The MSR is one sweeeeet heli you will love it. I went through two batteries before I knew it tonight and talk about a quick charger. I did not put a clock on it but it had to be under thirty minutes to charge both batteries. Dave

OK, I think this is a record for me - 5 days in a row of at least 4 packs or more I am not doing anything too fancy, just FFF, circles, figure eights, practicing nose in hover. Im ready to try idle up real soon! Had a small 'incident' today tho, the closest area to fly is a huge FPL easement about 5 mins away from me. Its a big park, walk paths etc, well kept. Well today I manage to get up over all the power lines I really have to take a pic, these are huge high tension wires that cover the entire area, massive. So there is not a lot of space between them(the wires). I was sh*tting it BIG time, had to keep it over them until I could find where I could come down, and I found an opening off to the side, and managed to land. I packed up and went home after that. Co Pilot rocks!

Just got back from another good time with the Blue Ray........
Weather here has been perfect....even a little warm 80F.........was able to get one invert in.......almost lost it ....didn't have the nerve to do more since my new found mentor was not at my side..... Haven't switched out the stock tail servo with digital or gyro, that will be next week.....gonna use a Raiden DMA-016 .....and the Detrum GY-48v....prices are within my low budget hobby account.....lol

Great jindo. And, you're fortunate to have such good weather. I've been stuck flying inside, because of weather issues, for so long it's ridiculous. well, this too will pass. ;D Happy landings

Brrrr, cold here still. I did have the chance to test fly a GY401 gyro on an ESKY HBK2 I have. This is a backyard flyer I have that has taken a back seat to the EXI 250. I got a GY240 used and in mint condition. I took it apart and hacked the board up using info I found on helifreak to convert a GY240 to a GY401. This is the 2nd one I've done. It's also the last. But it worked well. Although I inspected my handy work with my Surface mount microscope at work, I will fly it 10 times in the HBK2 before I move it to anything else.

helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=91459I got the GY240 for $50 from a friend but since a used 401 goes around $75 shipped, it's not worth it to do it again for me. I flew it again during lunch. As an experiment, I pointed it to the end of the parking lot, initialized it and took off and held a hover for about 8 minutes doing some side to side movements and small punch outs. I did not once touch the tail. Although it did kick some in the punch outs, it always came back to where I originally pointed it. The HBK2 tail is not a very good one. slop and the RPMS are lower than they should be.
