I flew 2 packs on the HBK2 in the lit back parking lot after work. On pack #2, I initialized the 401 pointed towards the builting back door. without touching the tail, I took off and hovered for 4 minutes and landed as my fingers got numb. I never touched the tail (even when taking off) and it never drifted more than say 5 degrees in those 4 minutes. I'm gonna have to move this gyro to another heli.....
I still have a 450 with a new Futaba GY520 that I have yet to test. Gotta do that next week. It's gonna get to 40F mid week.

What are you going to move the 401 to? If I had that gyro on my HBK2 I might never have gotten rid of it.
I flew in the gym on Thurs. Flew the Vapor and my wife's big Chinook. We're getting a group together now and we're going to be giving R/C classes to 8-11 year olds soon. We're starting with a Vapor and a coaxial a bit later on. This is going to be fun. ;D
Happy landings

I got some good flying in today,,,even thou it was 10 degrees out,,,LOL! I just changed the main shaft bearings on my T-Rex 600 ESP,,test flight great. I was also dialing in the throttle curves on my T-Rex 500 ESP since putting in the Turnigy Typhoon 500H motor. I used the tachometer and set my curves for 2900 rpms at 100% and 2600 in normal. Runs GREAT!
Got the EDFs with skis on them,,,,the F-4E,,the A-10 and the Flying Shark,,,flew them each 3 times.
I also got out my new toy,,,the Parkzone Ultra-micro P-51D,,,,OMG is this little guy fun. I had no wind at first,,then I got about a 7 or 8 mph breeze and thats about all this plane can handle. A 10 mph wind would just carry it away. But, surprizingly,,,it flies very well,,,stable and easy. Very cool!
I love flying off of snow,,,,my 40 acre field has about 2 feet of snow,,,I can take-off and land anywhere,,,,loads of fun!!
I had a great days,,,about 17 flights,,helis and planes!!

I'll be flying in the gym today and planning some R/C classes for the kids. The good guys at Hobby Zone are donating a couple of vapors for the classes. Helis to follow.

Hey David I've got the PKZ Sukhoi and flying it right now in the gym. It's quite a handfull in that small of a space with a Tx without dual rates...Even with dual rates. Much more comfortable outside and until the snow hit was landing it on just about every surface including concrete. The skis are parkflyer Dubros. I get them from Hobbbyzone, but you can get them a lot of places. My last set had the wrong size collars on them. Went to a different LHS and the same thing. You need 1/8" ID. I bought those seperately. So, you might want to pick up a pair at the LHS so you can see what you're getting. Happy landings

David,,,,,yea the Dubro #830 is what I'm using on the edfs.
19K,,,I just drilled out the collars that came with them,,,,7/32 I think.
I may have to go with the bigger Dubro skis for this new F-4E I have coming,,,it's quite a bit bigger. Not sure if I can do it,,,,this jet comes with retracts. Maybe I can just lock the gears down. OR,,,,,maybe I'll just use a couple carved-out 2-liter pop bottles and put snow skids on the wing tanks,,,LOL,,,yea,,,,thats the ticket,,,,thats what I'll do,,,LOL!!
Or,,,I'll just take the plow truck and clear a runway in the field,,,I can get it smooth enough for wheels once I pack the base.

Yeah, I could have drilled them out I just happened to notice it at the wrong time. Actually, they didn't charge me for the 1/8" collars now that I think about it. The smaller collars are a mistake. There are no parkflyers with gears that small. Horrizon has been notified. I think the larger Dubros will work on your new F-4E. I've seen them and they are big. I'd be a bit concerned about snow getting dragged into the ducts if you land on the tanks. Just a thought. Happy landings

FINALLY! Got to fly today, if you can call it that. Got a couple of batteries through my POS HBFP and a couple through my 450SE. The first time in a month. The old thumbs still remembered That poor HB has broken CF all over it and it vibrates badly, but it still flys and takes a crash with very little damage. Cheap crashes are what I need. My ongoing neck issues keep me from doing too much Big Baby! I'm paying for those 4 batteries right now V-I-C-O-D-I-N, V-I-C-O-D-I-N, V-I-C-O-D-I-N ;D

LHS did not have any skiis. I did take off my funfly off the winter grass though. Here are some vids 1) Funfly on skiis 2) A student of mine with EXI 450 3) Elk's old Flasher with that DDVP driving the tail (first forward flight with the DDVP).

Nice vid David. That DDVP tail looked like it was working pretty good.
I found a bay with an ice road on it. Nice and wide and pretty smooth. Took the skis off and the wheels back on did some flying off that. My new favorite winter spot. It may not be there next year though. A guy at the end of the bay plowed it for some shoreline reconstruction. He came out of his house practically jumping up and down. An Ex R/C'er from the old school. Loved the new electrics. Now if I can just get him back into the hobby maybe he'll plow that road every winter. ;D
Happy landings

After not flying for several weeks, finally was able to get out this afternoon. 4 packs and I am really starting to get more comfortable with orientation. Its been a big issue for me. Before I made my trip to Vegas, I got an eye exam, new script for the eyes, ...I can see!!! No wonder I had trouble with orientation, I could not see worth a crap. lol!! For real, it made a HUGE difference this afternoon. Should be nice again tomorrow afternoon, ..I will see if I can get the wife to shoot some vid for me....

4 more packs today thru the BlueRay. It was a perfect 70 degrees and almost zero wind!! And no one there but me today, was so peaceful. Was practicing some nose in hover and tearing it up with FFF. I hope to do it again tomorrow!

Knock 50 off that flyin'and It'll be just what it was here yesterday. No wind though so a microfiber jacket and driving gloves were perfect. Black Hawk was still flying good and drew a small crowd of watchers. Snowmobilers, ice fisherman and people just out to enjoy a walk. Lot's of questions afterwards.
Happy landings
