Thought I finally had a chance to fly today. It was clear but windy most of the day, but I went outside about and hour ago and it was calm. I threw everything together and headed to a field about 5 minutes from my house. Turns out, my house was blocking the wind. It was actually 15 to 20 mph at the field I got through almost one battery before my common sense kicked it and I set it down for the day. That Scorpion will really zip but even without it, I was getting altitude changes of 10 to 15 feet because of the wind . For once, I talked myself down before the crash...It made my 450 look like a HBFP

Got 4 packs through the 250 and 5 through the 450. Perfect flying weather at 7.30am today, zero wind but very cold. Did my first (very nervous) figure 8 with the 450 without crashing, then had to set it down because of nerves Just flew side to side with the 250 and did some side in hovering with it. It's the most I have ever flown in one day and it was great! ;D Colin

Only thing iced up for me was my fingers the other day. I flew the HBK2 at the field before picking the kids up from Gymnastics. 8 minutes was enough. It was getting dark too. Saturday, I flight tested the 500 one more time before I pulled the 60A volcano ESC and put in a CC Phoenix ICE 75A. I did not fly it yet but spooled it up in the basement not getting off the ground. Soft start was very sweet!
Phoenix sim came in Saturday and I tried it out. I can't say the realizim is all that different from clearview but the graphics sure is. So is the speed. Clearview has a pretty long delay after crashes but pheonix is very fast and resource friendly. I first ran it with my DX7. I later found that my cheap ARF tx I have (WFly 6ch) has a JR compatible plug on the bottom and it worked fine. Cool thing is the jack is not on the back so I can set it down and it's fine. Gonna just leave that Tx by the computer in the basement. I tried some online flying and it was kinda cool. Maybe one day we can have a helitalk Online fly-in? Dunnow how one hosts it.

Uncontrolled inverted landing Well, I guess now it is even more important to get the other one out of the tree ;D Is that repairable?

The weathers been terrible for over a week and it looks like it's going to continue for another week. UGH! Been flying in my parking structure. It's not all that bad except the ceiling is only 8'. I try to keep it around a foot from the ceiling and fly down to the end, about 120', in a figure 8 or fly back through the columns weaving in and out. It's not that easy to do with the G2, it's a little darty, but the BH is much easier. One of these days I'm going to hit something. My wife's flying the BS Raygun converted to brushless with a new fuse design. She is a real natural. Flys it like a pro nose in. Happy landings

I finally got to go through a whole battery at the field today. In fact, I got through 2 before it got too dark. Except for my aborted attempt Sunday when it was too windy, this is the first time in about 4 months, I think, that I have gotten to do anything more than hover a little. BUT, I had a brain fart, I think. Not sure what happened and it happened very fast. I had been doing some good 8s and FFF. Side in and other vanilla stuff. I just turned it tail in about 30 feet up and was about to back it toward me a little. Nearest I can figure I got a twitch of dumb thumb and pulled the stick back too far. Drove that bird straight into the ground, tail first. If it had hit any harder, it would have stuck the tail in the ground. It dug about a 6" deep divot in the soft stuff. Amazingly, it didn't even bend the boom. It shoved it toward the frame about 3/4 of an inch. Tore the tail blades and shaft up, broke the main blades and I am sure it bent the main shaft. But I didn't see any other damage. Not bad for an azz first pile drive. ....And I'm still in a good mood because it was the first day to actually fly in months!!!!

well I had a successful day I took the copterx out and was hovering it in 5 mph winds today run a whole pack through it but I noticed some more funny moves coming from it so I checked it out and found that what was tight was not tight anymore yep that's right the blade grip bolts were loose thought for sure I had lock tited then but I gots her now then I took the exi out for her maiden voyage all I got to say about that one is WOW she has that 4000 rpm engine in her and that outrage g5 head talk about having a tiger by the tail the head is setup on medium response I don't think I will ever set it it up on high response but it hovered in 5mph wind with no issues what so ever so all in all I had a good day except the video camera didn't get turned on ;D sorry Bt about your day next time will be better

Wow BT!!! Orientation loss comes to mind with the 450 coming at you butt first!! That gets me every time!
Man, it's nice to see you in a good mood after that! ==== akp, finding that loose thing is what I look for after every flight! I am not always lucky! ==== I flew a couple of homemade foamies today, crashed all of them in the wind, but none were hurt! Well, nothing a little hot melt glue wouldn't cure! Man, I'm turning into a foamie junkie! These things are too easy to build and too much fun!
I also flew my Exi 500 and it was incredible as usual. That is my favorite heli now. It's just too smooth, especially in any wind.

Man, it's nice to see you in a good mood after that! ==== Kent I usually don't have any problem backing it in. I'm really not sure what happened. I wish I had it on video. It happened too quickly and I really don't spend much time thinking about what my thumbs are doing anymore when I'm flying. I had the CP2 on and possibly that is what kept it from inverting I have seldom had to center the stick to avoid a crash and I am a little rusty. So today I am thinking that when it first started to get away from me I pulled back instead of centering ? Anyway, its all good. I have plenty of time to fix it before the next good flying day.

Well after a week of not being able to fly (wind and/or rain lately) I was able to get out and burn thru 4 more packs in the Blue Ray. Was practicing really slow piro's trying to get used to flying nose in. Its still tricky for me, even with the CP2. I did almost exactly as BT described, trying to do a nose in I lost orientation and spun it around to tail in and almost slammed it into the ground tail first, but managed to save it. Scared the crap out of me. I was only about 20 feet up, the rest of the packs I made sure I was about 40 feet up. Can't wait to get my EXI build done, so I can have two birds to fly. The Blade 400 has just been sitting. Unless its dead calm out, its all over the place, kind of reminds me of the HBFP. Considering a second CP2 for the Blade tho, would be good test of CP2, the Blade is just not nearly as stable as the BR.

I finally got outside to fly yesterday. Almost 16 degrees and 5-10 winds. Practically shorts weather. ;D
My nice ice road isn't so nice anymore, which doesn't make any difference for the Black Hawk, but the landings with the planes were a little rough, but funny too. Touch a plane down on a little mixed bumpy snow and and ice and then have it transition to glare ice has the landing looking something like a keystone cops movie chase scene. ;D
Happy landings

I did manage to get two more pack in on the BlueRay early yesterday am, before the winds picked up to 20 mph. Wind was out of the south and as I turned and banking into the wind I must have hit a good updraft cause heli shot up about 15 feet and just seems to want to float. Being I have a limited ceiling with the power lines, that made me nervous.
This was on the second pack, flew it a bit more time, no real issue, but I could just feel the wind picking up. This was at 7am, as it approached 8am, winds where easily 15 mph.
Windy again today too - last three weeks end, crummy flying weather, during the week, its nice, go figure.
