It snowed quite a bit the last few days. I went out yesterday and found the snow too powdery for skis on the plane or floats on the Black Hawk. So, there I was taking off and landing in tire tracks. That was more challenging than I thought in a 5-10 breeze. I guess I've gotten a little sloppy with the landings over the winter. ;D
Happy landings

I heard he already does that.... and without a heli or plank Dave LOL, I'm an addict not a pervert. Yesterday my guy had the ice road plowed again. What a nice guy. Two lane road righ up to his property with a huge landing strip right by his house where he's putting in the rip rap on the shoreline. The guy with the bobcat moving the boulders had a big black pit bull. He looked menacing. Turned out to be a real dark hole cat. Ran up and wanted to be petted. Watched the flying and didn't even chase the aircraft when they landed. Goood doggy. ;D I haven't seen the guy at the house out with his new Super Cub yet, but I heard he left the battery plugged in and ran it down and ruined it. Had to buy a new one. Lesson learned. Well, I'm headed out there again this AM. Will let you know how it goes. EDIT: Didn't go flying. Too foggy and misty with the 30 temps rolling in. Happy landings

Well, the weather's been great yesterday and today and my iceroad is plowed once again. I flew both days and all is right with the world again. Missed my landing area yesterday with the Black Hawk when it got caught in a quick gust and got it plenty wet when it bounced off the road into a snow bank and practically disappeared. The servos were chattering, and it wasn't from the cold, when I finally pulled the plug I was concerned I might have fried a bunch of stuff. Put it away after drying it and everything worked today. Happy landings

MSR for past 3 days. Does the sim count? no, it doesn't..... I have 4 helis to test fly. 2 are mine and 2 are friends but I have no place to do it. Hovering in my driveway is like hovering in the garage, I have 6' walls of snow on both sides. I used to hover 450's in the basement all the time, I've given that up as a pledge to my wife to be more safe. And she would not gripe if I shot out for an hour to test fly at the school. I was also test hovering in the back yard but I only like the small helis back there now and when I hand a heli back to someone, I wanna full flight test.
BTW, ELK, I found a home for the flasher 450. Buddy of mine is going electric after 30 sized Nitros.

After a week of garbage weather, tomorrow looks awesome, but maybe a little windy later in the day. Supposed to be around 60 with bright sunny skies and 5mph winds in the AM increasing to 15 in the afternoon. I have my alarm set for dawn!!!!!!!!! I have ALL CHARGERS running now!
Man, I'm so ready to fly everything. It's been a couple of weeks.
Hey all of you snowbound folks, come on down! We normally don't have crappy weather for long in the winter! Kent

I flew both morning and afternoon yesterday. In the morning it was foggy and it was fun flying just into the edge of the fog and out again playing touch and go with the visibility of the planes. I didn't try it with the Black Hawk. It's hard enough to keep track of in clear weather. In the afternoon things cleared up. And wouldn't you know it, I crashed my P51 with perfectly clear blue skies. Just lost orientation for a moment and instead of pulling up elevator, which is almost always a save, I flew it nose into the snow. What a dufus. Not too much damage as the snow cushioned the impact. Lucky break. Snow, after all, is good for something. Damage: Broken cowl and spinner, smushed the foam in the nose and snapped the hatch cover. Had it all back together including paint in less than 45 mins. P51 score: About 200 flights since last May. 4 crashes. 3 my fault and 1 where the elevator broke. This last crash was the most avoidable. I replay it in my mind and just find it hard to believe I did it. And, BT don't tell me it's because I'm old. We all know I'm old. ;D Happy landings
